Hi, I got an offer from York pm and struggle between Think pm too.
As they are quite emphasis on academic, my hb is worry if they are very pushy and there may be lots of homeworks and activities. As my baby is not smart, we are afraid he can't catch up with others.
But when I asked the same question when I went for registration this Tue, the staff told me there won't be much homework or activities for PN & K1, but more of course in K2 and K3. I is it true?
But the Principal has mentioned they will arrange Cambridge Eng exam for student, so if they only starts study hard in K2, how can they achieve those good results for Starters and Movers?
But the staff is really nice and patient and listens for my reason as I want to apply to change from pm class to am, as we have language and music classes 3 days a week in the morning, and gym class on Mon & Sat, we really want him to continue his study on language, but if we are in p.m. session, we can't do it, and we can only pick the one like Spanish (but better to have 2 lessons a week), music, and gym (as my son loves it) on weekends....what a waste as if we can keep our study if we can get am offer.....any mammys know if there will be chance for change for am session? The staff told me as we are the last but one interview group, many parents have sent their request since last Oct, so the queue is long unless we have very "special" reason. I don't know if my reaons is strong enough, but she says I will know the result around mid May, after all mammys commit or withdraw their offer on 1 May.
We are worry if there are lots of fee to be paid for activites (sound there will be a lot), but I saw a mammy mentioned above it won't cost much for a year, makes me more relieved as the Principal mentions they will arrange some interaction/communication activites with schools overseas, or go to China for Eng. exam.
The critical point is, if it is true that it is not too pushy (but how come they can train the students to have good academic results and good speaking English?), I will feel more relieved as it seems too harsh for a 2 yr old babies to start his tough school life when he is so small; and if the homework is too difficult to him, and he can't catch up as what other classmates do, he may lose confidence in himself.
Please give me some advices and comments, and wish those mammys with their kids studying in York give me more information and do they enjoy their school life?
Thank you so much. |
