The overall results only make parent worry about their kids' performance, but do not give them a direction for improvements. Schools are not allowed to publish their results in the assessment, and so it is hard for schools to give comforts to parents. I guess that this will force schools to provide simulated tests to students and so schools can use the results of those simulated tests to meet the expectations of parents.
Actually I do not see a point for the Government to strictly enforce schools to keep the secrecy of the results. Even for top performing schools, they have to provide more simulated tests so as to prove their standard. In addition, without good information of their kids' performance and their school's standard, parents have to blindly provide more simulated tests to their kids, when they see that the overall result for Hong Kong is poor. |
