My friend had called MCS one month ago and was replied that only open/available for the parents with children studying there.
If it is true to open for public, I will inform my friend.

The primary school campus is not so good as expected, not greenish enough, no strong feelings of academic culture. Can see that the girls come from rich families as reflected from the famous brands of their clothings, but not sure which area they outperform other schools most, anyone knows?

WYmom, i think you are the only one to comment on the campus. friends of mine from DGJS/DGS purposedly went to Maryknoll just to take pictures esp during the spring season.

Maryknoll is particularly strong in the academic and extra-curricular activities, quite an all-rounded institution. I don't know what you mean by 'outperform other schools'-- 'other schools' meaning....?? In my opinion, DGS goes no.1, 2nd best is probably Maryknoll because i know quite a number of friends from MCS and their standard is very high.

Regarding 'richer families' of MCS students? this i have no idea. i know only that graduates from MCS are hardworking in their professional career and yes, they become quite rich- financially stable and professional. But not all of them are from rich families.

Campus wise, MCS is already considered very nice in HK (i've been there more than once) whereas if you are looking for a bigger lawn i would recommend DBS for you.

Thanks for your info. What do you think if compare MCS to St. Paul Co-ed?

I don't know which area is MCS strong at in extra-curricular activities as there was no introduction on this during open day. DGS is famous to be strong in a lot of areas, Heep Yunn is strong in sports, how about MCS?

WYmom, i will place St Paul's co-ed the first, ahead of DGS and MCS if compare all boys/girls/co-ed school academically (not say how many 10A but overall result). St Paul's co-ed is placed the top school on my list (just my opinion)

I think your standard of being 'strong' is quite high

strong=no.1? my standard of 'strong' = widely exposed in different knowledge, active participation in external competition, and a reasonably high commendation their students have achieved. Not necessarily no. 1 or 2. If the school is only strong in just one field eg sports or music, it's not enough for those parents looking for an all-rounded education for their kids. I think it's important for kids to achieve and expose to a wider knowledge than just concentrate on one.
yes Heep Yunn is strong in sports, Good Hope strong in music.

I also like St. Paul Co-ed the most. I am really not familiar with MCS, just know that it is the dream school of many parents, same for DGS. Everyone knows that it is not easy to get in anyone of these, yet I still want to understand these schools better to see if the school's culture, strength etc. fits for my girl. Every school has its own characteristics and culture which nurture the kid's character and affect her future. Not all girls can fit in all these dream schools. I just want to find one which fits.

Thanks very much for your opinion. Is your kid studying in MCS?

You're right, these dream schools are quite hard to get into-- by interview or by lucky draw. and i agree that every school has its own characteristics and culture. Graduates of same school possess a unique character. But we, as outsiders, can't really know in-depth the every aspect of how the school will teach. An easy way is to ask yourself if your emphasis is put on academic or as equal on extra-curricular. it's hard to choose and hard to get in isn't it? but i do believe that getting into a prestigious school really help the kid in some way or another. The strong school spirit is already something worth to experience and will stay in their heart forever!

I have a better understanding of MCS and DGS because it happened that a lot of my good friends i knew since childhood came from these schools.

I hope that you can find your dream school for your girl!

I agree with you that:
DGS girls are in general, very confident, capable, presentable with strong communication skills, smart, quite snobbish, like to beat others and like to become leaders. 10/10 DGS friends i know of have exceptional family background- ie parents are either rich or are professionals.

to answer your above question (my own opinion), MCS girls are in general, again, confident, capable, presentable with strong communication skills, smart and can 'play' too, more down-to-earth but not so strong intention of becoming 'leaders'. they do not have that strong character of 'beating others'.
