Before applying the results of the studies to Hong Kong, we need to pay attention to the following conditions:
1. There is a tendency (or more accurately a practice) of teaching one or even two years ahead of the normal curriculum among local schools
2. The above phenomenon is even more profound in those elite local schools
3. The above phenomenon is not obvious among international schools
4. Availability of (academic) support at home (or after school in general) may have significant effects
5. School culture, support given to those slower learners and whether there is streaming, etc. are all relevant
The above list is, of course, not exhaustive but serves to highlight that factors including local conditions, school choices and family support, etc. should also be considered.
