I personally think in the recent years, since Yamaha's "manufacturing" factor has changed.... that Kawai's upright pianos now have advantage over Yamaha.
I like Yamaha's YUS 1. But you are looking at much more $$$ than U1.
U1- don't bother buying it, then go for Kawai's upright pianos. Kawai-'s touch is better, and sound is more "mellow" while Yamaha is more SHARP.
This is purely my personal opinion, Yamaha and Kawai are both good brands, will not go wrong with either one, if you want to resell, very easy too.
It really depends what your budget is.
Ask your teacher to get you the "best" price through teacher's discount.
Used pianos are a good option, if the piano has no technical/mechanism problem, I would purchase a piano that is either brand new, or about 10 years old, because then you are really saving money. A good condition upright about 10 years old, either Yamaha or Kawai, should be about $ 18 000.00
If you are saving only $ 10 000 or $ 20 000, then why buy used, buy brand new.
Just my opinion.
Good luck. |
