Hi bobokiki,

Students are recruited annually in Marh/April. You may find further details at the APA website at www.HKAPA.edu.

By experience, the required standard may be from Grade 2 at 5-year old, and more advance standard for an older applicant. I speculate it may be about Grade 4 or 5 for a 9 year old applicant.

會好自然側重一面,Piano要輪著出Class.而且個個都係叻仔叻女,必然希望可以被選出Concert,又點可以唔練呢!
Pre-Junior又有Chior又有樂理,絕對不錯.
如有心儀之老師,不妨分配前試問,否則交了學費等分配 ...

我28號收到信啦，囝囝入咗boy choir. 真係好開心，諗住佢唔得，因為之前幾個小朋友唱得好好，而佢嗰日有d聲沙，所以覺得好好彩，唔知佢哋收得多唔多學生呢？

So glad to share your good news. I think there are many applicants each year and only a few are accepted. You boy must be very musical and has a good voice. Hope he will enjoy APA.

Hi A1,

I heard there are over 300 applicants for pre-junior and junior piano class each year to fill the spaces of graduates and students who quit - so the number admitted is quite limited and should be under 20.

There are about 20 students in the pre-junior piano class for children age 5 to 8 years old.  Assuming an even distributiion of age, the number of graudates each year will be around 5 persons.

There are 3 junior classes with about 20 students each, for children from 9 to 17 years old.  Assuming an even distribution of age again, there would be about 8 graduates each year.

So the total number of pre-junior (5) + junior (8) graduates will be = 13.  The actual no. could be greater than this but not exceeding than 20.

My speculation only.

Wa!! Is she a gifted girl? She is very smart. I think that Ms Wong is good if studying in JMC. But she is very demanding and sometimes scored at the students if one does not practise well. Overall, she is famous and good teacher.

Hello gogochurch,

Thanks so much. My son classmate has tried to attempt last year but failed. He performs very well. When he plays all the parents outside the 琴行will stop talking and listen to his plays. Some other piano teacher even said he plays much better than "Shum Ching Tung". Actually, he has passed the ATCL with distintion and he is only 12 years old. I wounder where APA offer 2nd attempt for this kind of children. Do you have any ideas? I just want to help him. Thanks.

There are many reasons why he cannot be admitted by APA. Maybe, he can play well but cannot present the theme of music properly. That is very subjective. I think that the teacher there may look at the potential of the child and whether the child is musical rather than he can or cannot play well.

Dear annamjyeung,

其實我小朋友四歲半才開始正式學琴﹐但三歲時讀了Tom Lee Music Wonderland & JMC﹐直到四歲多開始發現她的進度比jmc快很多﹐所以就放棄了jmc﹐開始學琴﹐同時參加了香港兒童合唱團。

Hi mrsliu1991,

The audition is like a competition with lots of good players but only a few prizes. Your friend's son would know where he stands if he has been playing competitions.
