My friend did not agreed children to study in international school. She thinks that children will become more naughtier, without self-discipline and know none of Chinese

Mommies have children studies in IS, what do you think?

I dont agree with this "naughtier". Children study in IS will not become naughty or no self-discipline. It also depends on family.

又唔可以用這個字黎形容....
我個人覺得由於父母的容忍度會比較高,給予小朋友的自由及空間亦頗大,所以讀IS的小朋友自主能力比較强,認為自己應該擁有發言權,所以經常會與父母討論一些日常問題(甚至爭辯),有時真係要花好多時間及耐性去解釋.
會唔會因為咁而使一些比較傾向傳統的人覺得這些小朋友頑皮呢?

I also think that children study in IS are more active and willing to take the initatives to explore by themselves.  They will try to think and solve problems indendently.

But compare with the children studies in local schools, they may just stay and wait for the teacher to pass them information and seldom to explore by themselve.  The study method for passing tests and exams is just to memorise everything rather fully understand.

That's why my husband and I consider our son to study in IS rather than local school.  We don't want our son and even ours to face such a high pressure for rushing to do lots of homeworks during Sat and Sun and studying for dictations day by day.

But if our concept is wrong, please correct us.

Hi,

I also agree with angusbbma.

I think the way IS kids think may just be different from those local school children. Creativitiy and independant thinking are what I have been looking for. I quite like the idea of doing reading tasks for junior primary kids as homework rather than doing those boring writing (copying) tasks without the need to 'think' as in many local schools. Kids can learn a lot from reading.
