Don't blame yourself for your son's current situation. Be practical and don't expect a shortcut solution for it. Every family has its own constraints. Take it easy and your son may find a path suitable for himself in future.

Instead of overfocusing on your son's academics, maybe you can spend more quality time with him to understand his potential and interest better. Undertsanding and strengthening the relationship with your son may become a motivation for his advancement too.
