May I know how old your child is? My son is 2 and 7 mths old and his first language is English. I am looking for a palymate for him so that he learns better how to socialize. It's alright if you are not interested.

Definitely not looking for a teaher because I am an English teacher myself. I would like my son to socialise with friends who can communicate in English. I want him (2.6 yrs old) to think in English and acquire the beahviours and attitudes unique among English speaking people.

As for other interested parties, I would be glad to have your participation when, say, there are social gatherings like birthday, family day in locations we would like to pay a visit to even when we are far away.

For example, we are going to join a gathering organised by a friend in Cheung Kwan O and the other 2 parties, one in Tsing Yi, and us, in Tin Shui Wai, far though it seems, are willing to drive that long distance for the sake of our children.

I think HK is now polarised in the sense that some parents do not give a damn about their children and some, like us, care too much.

From what the psychologists and educationalists say, I try my best not to interfere with the activities my son has on hand and he learns best that way. When he's interested, he can repeat soemthing over and over. I don't think he's stupid in repeating something simple. There must be somehting complicated going on in his mind.

Now, if your son is not interested afetr joining in a group of children in which he is the oldest, I don't think you would need to bother whether he is bored or not. He is, he will tell you. He is not, why don't you let him do some leading and explore the leader in him.

Thx for your interest. We are arranging a meeting for 6-10 families in Gold Coast next Sat or Sun, that is either 19th or 20th this month. That's somewhere in the residents'club but in the meantime there should be some space for the kids to run around if they wish so, I mean outdoors.
