my 1.5 year old son has an offer from yew Chung for iTLP but I would also like to enrol him for anfield. I believe in play based learning but am also looking for more English exposure. Wondering if any parents can share their comments on the two schools? Thanks!!!

If you really target IS, I would recommend Anfield because of the better English environment. But if ...

Thanks for the reply!! Actually I do not target at Ycis primary or secondary as such  (seems some bad comments on their secondary). However I am looking for IS preferably with some Chinese programme and U.K. Curriculum if possible.

Many thanks!! Yes we are a local family- hope my little one can be bilingual having good command of both English and Chinese. Hoping to send him to U.K. Or US for further studies in year 10 or so. Comparing YCIS and Victoria primary - which school has better English standard ? Seems both have good Chinese.

YC係初期多中文少英文,讓幼兒以母語吸收知識。如果你唔係一心直上,以YC幼兒班的英文exposure去考其他IS, ...

Does it mean going to YCIS kindy will only equip children for YCIS primary but children there may not be competitive enough for other ISs or bilingual  schools like ISF, CIS or Victoria ?

Thanks for the sharing! 甘你覺得anfield 個programme 係咪好過yew Chung? Actually I am looking for some play based programme (at least for under 2 year old stage). Other than language, is the programme at anfield play based too?

For me if I target ESF, HKIS, CndIS, GSIS, FIS, ICS etc iI will pick Anfield. (Maybe just an isolate ...

Thanks for the good suggestions! Actually I am looking for IS with strong Chinese programme (if there is one.. haha); otherwise bilingual primary schools. I value good command of English and a sufficient level of Chinese (for reading newspapers and write short paragraphs after p6). So top choice would be CIS (understood though it's near impossible to get in) , then Perhaps CDNIS, Victoria or ISF, Kingston . May also consider anfield, ESF but I need to research further on their Chinese level.

Anfield playgroup is : story time, circle time, free play time, art work, musics time etc it must b ...

Thanks again! Yes I think maybe I will try both if the schedules fit to get a feel before deciding. Re play based, YCIS is child initiated free play (with total freedom having the child decide what to do/learn) - so I guess it will fit my son's character. I guess anfield may be a bit more structured play.

Oh - seems we have similar thoughts in terms of schooling then! Thanks for reminding that fate does dictate despite any sort of planning. Do you mind sharing with me your past efforts in terms of looking for an appropriate school for your little one? If so I will PM you. Thankssssss

樓主,964000,你地好,我嘅諗法同你地都好似呀!
我囡囡而家16個月,都煩惱緊搵學校。

Hi there- there is actually no formal interview of the child for YCIS ITLP. The teacher is basically there to explain to the parents their education philosophy (which is child initiated free play). I guess because their play based learning is quite unique in HK with no fixed curriculum or topics, they need to make sure parents understand this before joining their playgroup otherwise it will be a mis-match of expectations.

Atecila, Dear-Valerie 多謝你地詳細嘅解答!
free play其實我都ok的,我小朋友係比較活躍,都應該適合佢。 ...

Mrs. Normal and Dear Valerie, I also have plans to send my son to UK in year 9 or 10. So I am looking for U.K. Curriculum primary schools if possible. Just thinking it will  be easier to adapt to U.K. Secondary ... however, if my little one end up in IB system in Hk, would it be difficult to adapt to U.K. Secondary do u think?
