【2007.2.14 文匯報訊】（記者　任智鵬）香港學生英語水平近年出現「離奇」現象，高考英文科合格率去年創11年新低，但同時會考英文課程甲和乙的合格率卻分別上升。考評局最新的考試報告揭示當中「玄機」，報告顯示去年英文「會考合格、高考肥佬」的人數達5,800多人，較前年上升14.4%，揭破會考英文進步的「假象」。教育界人士指，由於不少學生「捨難取易」在會考報讀程度較淺的課程甲，成功合格後卻未能提升英文水平應付高考，擔憂未來情況惡化，高考英文「肥佬」的人越來越多。

　考評局最新的考試統計報告指，英文科「會考合格、高考肥佬」(04年參加會考、06年參加高考的同一批學生)有5,858人，比前年的5,121人上升14.1%。如只計算會考時應考課程甲的人，「會考合格、高考肥佬」人數更由前年的2,115增至去年2,696，增幅達27.5%，顯示越來越多人雖然能以較容易的課程甲成功應付會考英文科，令合格率在數字上有上升，但卻於高考時打回原形，甚至每況愈下。

　教評會主席蔡國光指，中中生報考課程甲已形成趨勢，擔心情況會惡化，07年及08年高考英文合格率會進一步下跌。他建議當局公開更多有關數據，讓教育界共同分析及尋求改善方法。

會考合格高考「肥佬」趨增

　教育政策關注社主席張民炳表示，數字反映會考及高考不銜接的情況加劇，預科英文課程也未能使學生成功增值，有必要改革，「兩個考試考核的內容及方式越來越不相關，就算過了骨未必能達入大學的要求，大學要教好學生英文更會好辛苦。」

Under 334, only 1 English paper B, so result should be worse than A-level.

我仔係第一批334試驗品, 334的英文科要係以下 a和b的單元選三個讀, 同現今會考完全係兩回事, 我就唔係好明教統局以咩決定用呢d topics

The poor results in AL Use of English are expected due to the MOI policy of the EMB compelling the schools to be divided into EMI and CMI. As most CMI students have less exposure in the English medium, the drop in their English standard can be forseeable. Actually the CMI students are lagging behind in their English standard in terms of time for them to catch up by at least a year. Also most CMI students took the easier Syllabus A in English in HKCEE which gives them a misconception that passing in English does not require too much effort. So when they come to HKALE, they face a huge mountain to climb and at the end, a disaster results in a lot of failures. That's why many parents try their very best to place their children in the EMI schools. Those with a lot of financial backup such as the middle class and the upper class prefer to place their children in international schools or go oversees. The cupid for such disaster is mainly the consequence of the current MOI policy.

今年咪改左無課程甲/乙(Syll A & B )分囉！

現在d細路英文差到你唔信呀, 佢地無gramma base, 作文又唔掂, 我見到佢地上課的中學 (尤其是那些中中的)英文書非常之淺, 中二, 中三的都非常淺, 我個人覺得同小學的程度差不多, 我不是說深便好, 但太淺讀來讀去都係那些, 同學仔會無興趣, 我覺得佢地反而要想想點樣加點趣味落去教佢地, 同埋點樣有趣得來班中學生可以學到英文用語, 靠教育署乜都死, 你有見佢這幾年有成功的教育推廣嗎???   

不過, 我覺得家長都要記缺點呀, 因為有些家長放手放得太魯莽, 把教育這個責任推向學校之後就乜都唔理.

另外, 我都唔明教統局這幾年做緊乜, 我回想自己以前都讀書唔叻, 但我d英文都可以應付今日個社會, 佢地反而叫d中學生讀中中然後又大力鼓吹職業英語, 又話在社會英語很重要, 又叫d名星拍宣傳短片去推廣, 大佬呀, 乜呢d明日楝樑唔係要自少裁培架咩

Provide more english envoirment in school or in market.   How much the orange?      
To provide English TV movies 50% in english and putonghua...
All Teachers must speak in english or putonghua .
All primary schools must taugh in English , increase english subjects or projects for primary students.

Refer to Singapore education, It is very successful.  My cusins who is living there and now working in a famous Bank as a manager with good fluent english and putonghua.  Although his mother and father is speaking cantoness, they all speak well english and putonghua due to the envoirment/ tv channel / Good government edu systems.
