A friend who was graduated from HKU, majored in Physics and is now teaching Physics in a "traditional elite school", just sent his boy into CU. His boy got 34 marks in DSE and is very interested in research. He shared the same comment as your child's teacher.
An old friend, met in our university days, graduated from CU Physics, entered Princeton for post-graduate studies. I recalled some of his classmates also got promising offers for further studies.
