【明報專訊】小一自行分配學額階段今日展開，部分直資及私立小學已截止報名，今年部分地區直資名校申請人數及競爭學位比例猶勝傳統名校。油麻地保良局陳守仁小學收到逾3000份申請，較去年大幅增加近三成，校長楊永明直言是意料之外，相信因直資學校重視英文而獲家長支持。

Compared with 傳統名校, TSL is a lot cheaper & more affordable.
Why should it be a surprise that there are more applicants?

It seems that TSL is more welcomed than DBSPD which has attracted 2200 appplicants, but only boys can apply for DBSPD while both girls and boys can apply TSL. The corrected applicants of TSL should be only 1500<2200. So Don't be surprised.

Moreover, the school fee of TSL is much cheaper than DBSPD, so DBSPD is still the champion in the no. of applicants.

其實有乜好爭？間學校多人報重要？還是小朋友讀得開心重要？

Ying Wa received 2223 applications.  In terms of no. of applications, Ying Wa is on par with DBSPD.

When you discount the no. of applications to TSL by half, at the same time, you may also need to take into account the number of co-ed schools and boys' schools that are private/DS.  Competition is another factor that may affect the no. of applications.
