去加拿大定英國好呢？

阿仔有加拿大護照。去加拿大讀既話，學費會平好多。但又覺得英國既大學好d。

That is most people's understanding. University students are generally over 18.Since someone raised that his child is paying international fees, and I wanted to get confirmation from him whether we are all taking about the same thing.
Like I said, this topic has always been a discussion of university education. And he seems to be talking about high school.

May I asked whether you people have been talking about university or high school?  I thought the original discussion was about universities?

My daughter has canadian passport but we have lived in Hong Kong for many year. She is paying local fees for her university education in Ontario.  My friend's son is in BC. He is also paying local fees.

private school fee is 1/3 more than public one, I cant afford. Of course someone can chose any schools if they can afford, even not in Canada.

I am in BC, I am not sure if it applies to citizens in Toronto, but as I know it may not be different. You can check with your friends. I also want to know too.  Anyway, now I paid the school fee in B C.

private school 都不是那麼容易考入

我想說我仔都是加藉，但要比      international student學費。只有either parent 倍同才可比 local學費。所以學費並不是你想像中平很多。但當然就算付全費，仍比英國平。

actually we are also canadian but we prefer to go elsewhere for study.  It would be either the UK or the States.

我自己小朋友係英國所以私心都係答英國架啦...
不過坦白講我有朋友都有加拿大籍但係為左個小朋友前途同喜好著想送左佢去美國...雖然比多好多錢但講真, 如果係afford到ge...當然係以小朋友中唔中意同適唔適合優先啦

我覚得無論去CANADA　OR　UK,如果本身吾想離開自己個COMFORT　ZONE,就会look for Chinese group to join in.  You cant avoid or control your child.  所以去到英国、吾代表不混入香港/中国人GROUP.　　Well, if you can send him to a boarding school and you make sure there arent many Chinese there.  May be worth trying.

I was educated in the US and my husband in the UK. He told me he has always been with his friends from HK all the time from boarding school to university. Most people from HK do still stay with asians all the time anyway. In fact, even UK born asians, they tend to mingle with people from their own ethnicity too.This happens in the US as well.
Bunnygirl had different experience because she was already working when she moved to the UK and had to move outside her comfort zone.
Not all UK universities are good. Unless you are sure to get offer from oxbridge, lse, imperial, etc. There are a lot of other schools that are not exactly good.

我在加拿大時都有嘗試過融入外國人的生活圈子，但結果都係stick with d 亞洲人及CBC。我都想知係咪英國會好d。
另外考慮係我想個仔學會獨立，但加拿大有親戚，我怕佢會倚賴親戚。但相比去英國，加拿大就容易d適應

yes, share same view with Ruby1219.  That's why i said if affordable i will ops for the UK.
I didnt say canada is not good but the UK generally gives a better study environment.  When i was in Canada seems i never leave the Chinese group of ppl (as a kid i think this is normal that we incline to stay in a group we're comfortable with) but i can break my comfort zone to mingle with ppl from diff ethnicity when i was in the UK.  However what we think the best may not be the best choice for the kid as their characters/ interests may vary.  Dont force them to accept the "best" in our mind but to follow their own wish (of course we have to make sure we can afford that).

I'm not saying UK is the best or better choice than Canada here! I don't know about education in Canada at all. My point is I wouldn't look at it from the cost saving angle.

My stance is very simple, give the "best" education to kid as long as I can afford it, that is my priority. That's why we gave up the free education  and sent our son to international schools in HK, then went for an even more expensive choice of sending him to UK for upper secondary. Giving up the money-saving choice is silly? I think going for affordable, better quality is always a smart choice !
