In 80s, only QC had better public exam results than WYK among all boy schools. WYK was definitely better than LS, DBS and SJC in terms of academic results at that time.

Changing to a DSS will definitely help regaining its lost glory but the Jesuits is unlikely to consider this alternative. Another alternative is to establish a WYK primary school. With its own feeder school, it has six more years to train up the students.

This ranking seems to be based on the overall perception or reputation of the schools instead of their academic performance.

Like PLK No.1 W.H.Cheung College, its HKAL results were among the best in HK at that time but is not found in the list.

Right now, top boys from SFA will try SPCC / QC / LC / DBS first. Only those second tier students will consider WYK. If WYK and SFA become feeder / nominated schools, some top students may play safe and take the guaranteed places of WYK. This can help WYK to bring in higher quality students.
