CWBS is under ESF, so I guess with stronger confidence that it won't be too bad.

In fact RC is also my choice, RC is also close to my home, I'll choose CWBS, RC and CAIS.

  actually I still don't quite understand why people seems to rank RC better than CWBS. Is it based on academic result of the graduates?

  on Abacus' letter it indicates the selection priority. Category 1 first, then category 2. Within each category, priority is given to children with siblings in the same school, kids withdraw earlier and then back to the school, as well kids of employees. After these priorities it's first come first serve. Hope it helps.

According to the comments of parents, RC seems to put more emphasis on Chinese language compared to other ESF schools, that's why many of the parents now targeting for RC.

Apart from this, RC also have better school facilities than CWBS.

As far as I know not all ESF secondary schools are adopting IB right? eg CWBS's web site still says they follow british curriculum. Do they plan to move on to IB as well? anyone know when?

You seem to be familiar with ESF schools. Would you share ideas on choosng an ESF secondary school? Do you think IS (Island School) is the best academically? How would you compare IS and other ESF secondary schools? What shall we consider to choose an ESF secondary school?

Hi christf,

Learned that you're quite familiar with ESF. May I ask you some questions (may be silly questions) 'cos I'm planning for my kid's education.

1. Does ESF offer kindergarten starting from 3 years old? No pre-nursery level (i.e. 2 years old)

2. Would it accept kid whose parents are not foreigners (or I should say that parents' mother tongue is Cantonese)?

3. What's the school fees for kindergarten 'cos I could find those for Primary and Secondary schools only in the web site?

4. When would be the admission time (at the age of 2 or any time)?

wee wee, i spoke to ESF kinder at Sheung Wan yesterday.  My baby was born in 2006 so I should submit my application form next year in Oct.  Therfore my baby will not be admitted until 2009.  

They don't offer playgroups or nursery, just k1 & k2.

As far as I know, admission criteria included:

1. Native English Speaker (at least the Kid has to be), so in the form should only fill-in English as spoken language (but I am not telling you to cheat here)

2. Have overseas birth certificate

3. Have overseas passport

4. Sumbit yr application form on time

My daughter just got admitted and just attend 1 school tour (ESF Abacus). Good Luck to all.
