Friend’s daughter is at st Paul convent . Top grade wanna change to ICS for high school. Even pass with outstanding result, still not secured for a seat.
My two kids have been with ICS since R1, they are now in upper elementary and middle school.
PG1 is much harder to get in than R1 because the spots are significantly fewer. About 90% of R2 kids would go to PG1. Waiting list for ICS especially for lower elementary is ridiculously long.
You can consider taking the offer while supplementing the child with more Chinese outside school so he can apply to DSS again after PG1. Otherwise, the Chinese level you get from ICS alone would not be sufficient for local school primary 1 (and it’s not just about the difference between simplified vs traditional)
Agree,他們以為can get the best of both worlds, 但其實是兩頭唔到岸。通常只有second tier IS作backup (不是貶意,而是這些家長mindset其實又不甘去非top tier IS), 跟著又不停掙扎應不應該交那5-6位數字的留位費再搏大抽獎/扣門,老實說我覺得是傭人自擾,浪費金錢和時間。
