any comment about this school?  i know they have kindergarten, primary, junior high and high school sections.  So, most of their kindergarten graduates will transfer to their primary school, right? another international school will accept them?

Nice school in HK International school introduction. They've high score in the guide .e.g:GSIS, HKIS,ESF,CIS.And they've a new building  in this year. www.ics.edu.hk shows how many offers more than 940.So I think have double size of school before .But they accept all the student enough ages before Sept/Oct????(九月前足歲)
PLS:ICS係基督教國際學校，International Christian School，中學部係係九龍城近民生書院。依家個校舍唔太大，但係好快會有新校舍,聽聞沙田石門嗰邊.

I saw the web-site information of the entry requirements of the age should be 5 years old in K3. Do you know any exception for this?Thanks!

The educational system of ICS is 2 years of kindergarten that is R1 & R2. After R2, kids can enter to P1 which is before G1. I think, 3 years old kid can study R1 while 4 years old kid can study R2. For those 5 years old kids, they can study P1.

The cut-off policy at ICS goes like this ;
the children "who turn 3 yrs" from Sept. 1st, 2006 to Aug. 31st, 2007 are eligible to enroll in R1 in this coming school year. Basically no exception. Previously, in my child's R2 class, there were few kids born in Sept. and Oct., while many other schools like ESF do accept those in P1 at the same time.

If a child is born between Sept 1, 2006 and Aug 31, 2007, this child is just 1 year old or less in coming academic year. How can the child study in R1??!!

The cut-off date seems to be Aug 1, not Sept 1 every year. It is due to ICS'c all classes commence in mid Aug. Pls. check it.

NO. THE CURRENT R2A CLASS HAS 2 CHILDREN WHOSE BIRTHDAYS ARE IN MID AUG., AND THEY ARE STILL ELIGIBLE FOR R2. THE SCHOOL DID TELL THE PARENTS THAT THE CUT-OFF IS THE END OF AUG., NOT AUG. 1ST.  WHATEVER IT IS, THE CHILD IS 3 YEARS OLD ON SEPT. 1ST (NOT AUG. 1ST!! BE CAREFUL!!!), SH/E CAN APPLY FOR THE SCHOOL. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN THE SCHOOL YEAR STARTS.

What web-site you are browsing!? In ICS's educational system, there are Reception 1 & 2 (R1 & 2) under Kindergarten's operation. Whereas Pre-grade 1 (P1) is under the operation of Elementary. After P1, students will go to Grade 1 (G1) until G12 in high school the students then finish all levels of study at ICS. Of course they need to take SAT before they go to study in universities...

I hope it can help you to understand more & more about US educational system.

However, we may feel free to check it from Ms Tsoi on 3156-1234 for ICS Kindergarten's matters. I am sure that Ms Tsoi is very nice & patient to answer our questions. Of course, if you want to talk with principal, Mrs Van Hoy is very nice & patient too.

My daughter birthday is on December 02. So It doesn't matter of the cut-off in mid of Aug.Now, I consider her apply R2 or other school K3 or Year 1.

Dear KaKaYa,

Regarding the age, your daughter should study R2 rather than P1. But does she study in local kindergarten or IS kindergarten now? If you think that her English ability is able to meet R2, you may go ahead. You may be reminded that no more morning place in R2 is available. It has just few places for AY 2007/2008 afternoon session.

You are highly recommended that you should check with ICS-Kindergarten ASAP.
