Think International (Primary section)

Is the primary section running smoothly?  Is the class teacher there kind to the students?  How is their chinese standard (as same as local school?)?

Any parents can give me information?

Re: Think International (Primary section)

I would also like to know the parents' sharing and comment of this school.

I have attended their briefing session.  I think their chinese level should be higher than most of the international schools as they are using the same level of chinese books as local schools.  They will have dictation, but in a fun and interesting format.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

I forgot the exact no. of students in class, but should be a nice teacher to student ratio.

I especially like the small class size so that teacher can take good care of the students.  I also like their chinese standard, comparatively higher than most IS.  When you go for visit, you could try to meet the teachers.  For me, the overall feeling of the teachers are very nice.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

Carolsin,

The teachers and students are having holiday at the moment.  I will go there only to have a look the school campus and facilities. I will collect the application form and make an appiontment with teacher late on.

Is your child attending Think's KG in KLN TONG right now?  How old is your child?

Re: Think International (Primary section)

G1 - around 15 students (drop from 20 from Sep to Nov)
G2 - around 7-8 students
G3 or above - even less in each grade

The Chinese teacher is from Peking Tsing Wah University. She has been in HK for a number of years, and has been teaching in International schools.

The principal offers 10% off (around $5100 for 10 months) if parents registered before Christmas, and then pay one month tuition fee before Jan 15.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

My son is now in Mei Foo branch and 3.5yrs old.

IJKL,
That's good that if the principal could offer discount on the school fee.

Is your child studying in Think primary?  May I have your comment?  How do you compare it with other IS?  I am concerned on teachers' quality, teaching method, extracurricular activities offered, field trips, excursion, etc.  I know that the campus and facilities are not that attractive, but they are not the most important elements.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

IJJK,

Thanks for your reply and valuable information.  It seems that this is a good school.  I'm just wondering why there's not many students in primary section.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

I am very happy with its kindergarten section.
Think can give good standard of both Chinese and English for sure. I appreciate Anderson, and I know they try to organize many outdoor activities for the students.

However, I don't think its Maths, facilities and activities can compete with local schools or other IS. Another concern is peer group. Only one class in each grade is a concern. I think most of parents in KLT share this point of view. For G1-3 will not have any problem, but will this kind of setting be enough for G4-6?

I have visited several IS, DSS and Private Schools. It depends on your priority setting.

In terms of curriculum, facilities and activities, ESF is good (esp. Sha Tin College (High school) - (provided that if you are not thinking very expensive cat. of IS).

The New Reinas. ESF in MOS is really good, and they include Chinese every day. 70% of students are Chinese, but they set higher tuition fee.

You have to consider what kind of high school / university your kid want to do. For example, CAIS's curriculum doesn't fit US / UK university, other than its limited choices of subjects to choose in its high school. JIS fits US, but only has 1-2 Chinese lessons per week. YC and Singaporean are the other two IS famous for better Chinese.

Besides, it depends whether you want your kid to grow up with non-Chinese. If so, you should consider some famous IS on HK Island.

For me, my boy is in Preparation. I know several of his classmates submitted application forms already. Several of them did not have any offer from DSS, and they did not consider IS or local Gov't schools, their second choice will be Think. It's very tough process to choose Primary school though.

The above info is from my observation and personal point of view, but I hope it's helpful!

Dear IJJK,

Thanks for your detailed reply.

I went to the school with my daughter yesterday.  The school has got only  3 students in Grade 3 so that I will not go for it.

I will go to visit Renaissance College today and see how it goes.

Re: Think International (Primary section)

International Christian School is going to have a new campus for elementary and high schools in Ma On Shan. You can consider it too. They should have space!
