Kids' life in Kentville

Hi mom

I've heard that so many moms said Kentville is very strict and disciplinary. Kids are not even allowed to talk on school bus but can only sleep or see outside views. Can I know if kids studying in Kentville are having a happy school life?

My son also K1 in KV this year, he love go to school and willing homework at home by himself.

Re talking on the school bus, my son told me they can talking but cannot too loudly.  My son knew many friends on school bus.

My son is now studying in K2.  He loves going to Kentville much more than the one that he previously attended which is activities-based.  He once told me that talking on school bus was not allowed.  However, he also told me the names and a lot of things about his new friends on the same school bus.  Personally, I do not think it is as strict as other moms said.

Thank you for your advice. Is there really no activities like birthday/Halloween parties or outings in Kentville?

I would like to know any miscellaneous fee apart from the school fee? Heard that there is no school activities as well?  Hope someone will tell me more

Only few hundred dollars for miscellaneous fee once a year.
Also we have coloured pencils and pencils pack (triangular type) distribute for home exercises.  Besides, the well-prepared snacks and cake for birthday party from school side is also surprising me a lot.  
(Because our previous nursery school just give us some promotional memo to order books or CD.  And my son’s N1 classmate who is now at SC said, “They also received promotional memo to order books of thing as previous nursery school, too commercial.”)

Yes, we don't have any activities / function but birthday party only.
I think it doesn't matter.  
My son is so busy after school for outside playgroup.

Heard that kids need to take their own snacks and water to school. Is that true?

Thank you. Actually, I like the snacks that my son's nursery provide him. Sometimes, they have porridge, congee. If we need to take our own snacks, then definitely it will be bread. Maybe not so many varieties.
I couldn't see the inside of the campus in Kent Road clearly. But in the other one, seems that they do not have mats in the playground as in other kindergartens. And there are slides, or other playground facilites. Do you think it will be fun? And will kids hurt easily in a playground like that?

我今年帶孩子去interview, 只見一架鐵架滑梯， 滑下來的兩旁沒有密封，腳仔伸出很易受傷，我兒子很活躍﹐所以幾擔心。

另外﹐想請問老師夠不夠愛心﹐接受多問題和活躍的孩子嗎？ 會否責備孩子？  我查看Ｋ３的討論﹐通常講assessment and 幾多分。功課與test 要給ＡＢＣ﹐是否較多壓力與競爭？

請各位家長分享多些經驗．真擔心小孩子會否失去活力。

my son has been accepted by KV and St. Cat. though I plan to pay the registration fee for both schools, I still wish to have more info on both schools. Can u tell me more about KV in the following aspects:

1) do your boy find it hard to catch up with the homework?
2) is there much homework to do every day?
3) what is the homework maily about? (e.g. writing, drawing lines)
4) can your boy finish the homework by himself?
5) what KV has trained him so far?

其實kv都唔係太多功課
k1上學期都係連下線,油下顏色..到下學期先開始學寫字.小朋友都好輕鬆
到左k2,每日3樣功課,中英數各一樣,我囝囝通常都會係30分鐘內自動完成.唔使有人陪住佢做,因為老師已教左佢地,已大個仔/女,唔使媽咪陪架啦,要自己做完比媽咪檢查就得.
佢地k2開始,教數學都會用英文教架,如 counting up the no.of 1-10,小朋友就會識講/寫番1-10出黎,如老師叫佢地counting down the no.of 20,佢地就會由20寫番上去0.又好似教加數.老師講2 and 2 are:小朋友就會答4咁架.
呢d全部係學校學,我地係屋企係唔使同佢再溫,佢地已識架.
我自己就覺得而家黎講,進度都幾好,中文又學左好多生字,開始要佢地讀句子.默詞語.
