my girl is in the waiting list now, do you know the chance to get a chance for the waiting list?

can I say the overall academic result in this school is higher than those govt school?

I heard many people saying that even st mary primary's academic is not very high because they cannot choose their students and also their syllabus is fixed by the government, all they can do is to push their students to work hard by giving them alot of homeworks and tests. how you comment between govt school, DDS and private schools? please share your view?

對不起，我不知道機會有幾多。每間私小的收生政策是不同的。有些私小會因應上年accept offer的比率而發出超過學額數目的offer letter。我知道宣小不會發出超額的收生信，而由於沒有聯繫中學，所以有不少在waiting list上的人都會收到call。

私小的學術水平一般都比官小高。一般人選官小不是因為官小的學術水平高，而是因為官小有知名的聯繫官中。

St. Mary是津小。我估計官津學校的確受到升小派位制度的影嚮，但不同地區的學校所受到的影嚮程度並不一樣，這是因為每個區域的入息水平和父母學識水平是不同的。位處41區的名校影嚮就很少，例如La Salle和Maryknoll就不太受影嚮。位處油尖區(31區)的St.Mary所受的影嚮的確較41區的學校大。

選小學應先考慮學校的教學特色，是否適合自己的子女。無論資助方式是那一種，最重要還是看個別學校的教學特色和升學前景，並不一定是直資和私校就好過官津。每個孩子的學習方式都不是一樣的。學術水平要看你怎樣比較，不一定是深就是好，而學基本的就是不好。例如人們學武，有些人會很快學較難的、攻擊力較強的招式，又有些人會花很長時間學馬步，做好基本功。最後邊過好打些，就要打過先知。

Agree, I believe different schools fit different students.

Also, why I choose St Mary in my first round is because they are now through train to Secondary. But actually I prefer co-education school in primary as they can have chance to be with both girls and boys and think it is much more balance for their development.

My girl at least now like reading and she can finish her homework before I back home. She wants to have all the things done and can take the initiative to do the work (this is also the comments from her teachers). But primary is different from kinder, also I am quite busy and always back home late. I really worry if the school is too demanding, I will have great pressure and so does she.

2. 若純粹以地區來選擇，APS位於九龍城校網，對升中一來說，是否較為有利呢？

我和我太太都係要大約9點才回到家。我覺得全職母親照顧子女會有優勢，不過，無論讀什麼學校都改變不了這個事實。

我不覺得宣小學校方面的要求很高。但讀宣小，在這個學習環境下，父母的要求會變得高了。你可能會像我一樣希望個女參加校外和校內的樂團。你可能會像我一樣希望子女在學業和音樂方面都學有所成。我相信孩子的壓力是來自父母的期望，而不是學校。當你覺得你的孩子可以做到的時候，你對孩子的期望自然會提升。

1. APS是中文小學。只有Science用英文教。由小一開始，常識分為中文的常識和英文的科學。另外，我知道高年級會教英數。

2. 是較有利。但SFA和APS的頂級學生會在『自行分配學位』階段找到學校，不受校網影嚮。

If I were you, I would choose St Mary's because it has a good secondary school.

Do you know that a certain portion of the applications to these famous schools used 假地址!  You analysis may not be right.

Don't forget some smart boys from SFA had already transferred to DBSPD when DBSPD established in 2004.

As far as I know, when DBSPD established in 2004, there were 15 and 5  APS boys transferred to DPSPD P.4 & P.5 respectively.  

Now, there are 15 APS boys studying in DPSPD P.6  out of 60 DPSPD students.  However, there are only 5 SFA boys in DPSPD P.6 this year.

Obviously, DBS would like to admit APS boys for upper forms while for lower forms would like to admit more SFA boys than APS boys.

If SFA does not emphasis on music development, I think DBS would admit lesser and lesser SFA  stutents in future bearing in mind that at least 10% of APS students would obtain Grade 8 merit or above in different kinds of music instrument with outstanding awards in the school music festival by P.6.

Right, you have rightly pointed out that some if not most of them see learning musical instruments as a mean to counter better secondary schools instead of getting other benefits/advantages from learning music.  But I don't think the way for APS boys to DBS can remain as good as in the past few years since less and less seats would be available for outsiders and when the orchestra/bands of DBSPD are fully developed and when these students promote to secondary school.

往年經驗華仁收聖方濟都是全級25名內有特出課外活動，但可搏抽籤。其實華仁都是英中，冇話好不好，如小朋友不肯讀書，就算入了10A學校也沒有用
