Question about Nursery school?

Dear all experienced moms,

My boy is now 8 months (he was born in March 2006).  I know the nursery school will accept toddlers from 2 years+, when do you think I should apply for the Nursery school for my boy?  But he won't be 2 years old till March 2008.  So, is it too late if he goes to nursery school in Sept. 2008?  I see a lot of moms are very concerned about their little ones and applied for some nursery schools right after they got the birth certificate.  Is it necessary?
