Raimondi vs St. Paul Boys

WE CAN STILL ACCEPT THE GOV'T ALLOCATOIN.

THE FORM SAID IF YOU GO TO JOIN 統一派位（官立及津貼學校）IN JAN08, NOT 自行分配學位 WHICH WE HAD ALREADY TAKEN. WHY DID YOU SAID THAT?

DO YOU KNOW 統一派位 / 自行分配學位ALLOCATION???

ONE IS HELD IN JAN AND ONE IS HELD IN SEP

THEY SAID WE HAVE A RIGHT TO JOIN THE CENTRAL ALLOCATION BUT THEY WILL CANCEL YOU SEAT AUTOMATICALY AFTER THE GOV'T REPORT TO THEM.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND ABOVE THE MAILING SAID??

IT IS NOT DDS, IT IS A PRIVATE SCHOOL WHICH LIKE DGS.

THE MAILING ONLY IS SHOWN 統一派位 ???? ANYONE CAN HELP US?

From the last year experiences and the previous informations, the one 自行分配學位 had already been submitted on Sept 2006 this year. Even you have been registered on Ramondi, we will still allow to take the 自行分配學位 (if luckily you got the place from your desired school) which are different from the 統一派位 which will be submitted on coming Jan 2007 after the result came out from 自行分配學位. I wish that you make you all clear... (just offer a good for help...)good luck to all bk moms and kids..

I agree... 40 seems big as the trend is really just 30 a class.  How many classes do they have in total?

How about St. Paul Boys, are they having only 30 a class, do you know?

I share the same view with LilianSze.  The acceptance letter only mentioned about the 統一派位 but not the 自行分配學位.  
I suggest that you may register first and you still have almost half month to consider whether you carry on to the 統一派位 (if the 自行分配學位 failed) or accept the offer from Raimondi.

Right... originally I got this feeling too - seems to me that it's not difficult to get accepted by Raimondi but read this, there are still a number of parents who expect their sons would got accepted but they didn't make it:

Afterall, in the HK island side, there are more "good and free" traditional boys' school including SJC and WYC.  If parents can get SJC for example, they may want to give up Raimondi I guess.

That could be a reason why Raimondi has to send out more acceptance and be prepared that the accepted applicants would give up their seats.

Hi Morris mama,

The reasons of me to choose St. Paul Boys are:

1) I'm a Christian. I prefer Christian school
2) Academic result of RC (Secondary) is getting worse in recent years. This year, the vancany of RC F6 is so many even in the final stage. RC accepts 14 points student for F6. Actually, the figure shows that students content is 30% band 1, 40% band 2 & 30% band 3.
3) Besides the school fee, St. Paul Boys can get the subsidies from HK government. Theoretically, the resources put to the student should be more.   

For St. Paul Boys (Seondary), I think the academic result should be as same as RC. After changing to direct subsidy, more clear picture can be seen this year. So, it's uncertain...

I do think RC is a good school, I will take if I get no choice but lucky draw.

My choices are:
1) SPCC (Failed already)
2) DBSPD (Waiting)
3) St. Paul Boys (Waiting)
4) Alliance (Waiting for interview)
5) RC (Accepted)

No wonder!  pumbaa, if I were you, I'd also prefer St. Paul Boys than Raimondi.  I struggled this much because me and my son are Catholics... (but pls note I still struggle because just like you I prefer DSS than Govn't Subsidy School too!).

Oh... I applied all these schools too - I think our selection criteria are same bor... ha ha...

舊年, hkuga(直資)係十月尾出result, 所有註冊既學生, 都要放棄政府學位, 包括自行分配學位
好似教統局係有個deadline架(for截住有直資offer既學生), 你地可以打去check check丫

Raimondi 封信係話嫁左 Raimondi 就無得去選皇妃 Central Allocation (Lucky Draw)，如果我地 register 完Raimondi 而仲走去選皇妃 ( Central Allocation), Raimondi 就會除消我地同距之前既婚約。

講明點就係，register 完Raimondi 仲可以反悔架。但 $500 就會無左。

Raimondi 封信完全無提及自行分配。吾知有無影響。但我 understanding 係無。

Is it worth of giving up the 皇妃?  I plan to choose St Joseph in the lucky draw.

I don't have much info about Raimondi.  Not sure if it's a good school for my son.

Curious to know how many applicants for RC this year.

RC should have 5 classes P1
5x35 = 175 students???

Oh that much?  I still have the application form with me, it says they'll take "around 140"...

My friend says the applicant is about 500. (Correct me if I'm wrong)


If it offers 140, that should be 1 out of 4 applicants.

The new campus should not be 2008.  The earliest time should be 5 years later. ie. 2011.
