New Joiner to SJS

Hi all,
Is there any kid will join the SJS in this Aug as Year 1? My son quite worry about the lunch arrangement, etc.

P1 lunch time is from 12:45 to 1:00, but at the beginning of term 1, teachers will give children approx. 30 mins.  Give your child simple lunch e.g. sandwiches, fruits.  If he can't finish within 15 mins, he can take it out to the playground.  But teachers don't encourage this.  There will be 30 mins playtime after lunch.

Can any mom can explain why the lunch time is so short ?  I don't think either an adult can finish their lunch.  By the way, too rush for the meal not good for health!!

Most children can finish their lunch within 15 mins if their parents give them simple lunch, e.g. sandwiches, some children have noodles, rice, etc. will take a bit longer.  For P1 children, of course, maybe a bit too rush because they used to be fed at home.  This is the time for children to learn to do own things by themselves.  Some children need to finish their lunch when everybody is having playtime.  These children will miss their playtime, means that they will miss the social time with other children.

Thanks all moms information, I prepared several lbs will drop in the first term!!!!
I will prepare sushi... noodle....no bone chicken wing etc for his snack / lunch.  Any others?

Did I need to buy a black and while shoes?

Fruits are also good.  

A pair of black shoes is better. If your son can't tie shoelaces, buy him a pair with self-adhesive tape.  Same as PE shoes.

He can wear black shoes or white shoes but boy normally wear black shoes.  PE or game sessions need to wear white trainers (or 白飯魚 is fine).

They recommend you to buy swimming costume, school bag, etc.  No need to buy other stuffs except uniform.  My kids are too old to study in sjs.  They graduated already.  I work there.  May I know which class you boy is going to?

my son will go to 1.2 class. I still worry about the starting week for him as he is quite shy to new friends.  Hope this new chapter could bring him happy.
