9月入讀瑪利諾小學小一家長聚一聚

我都希望係呀!仲希望係唔駛亞媽陪温習而能有此佳績.  據聞小女班的同學有一個就是這樣, 不過就冇我囡囡份了.  

不要加太大壓力給自己及小朋友.  盡了力就可以了.  校長說要求是85分或以上.  我跟囡囡說:拿不對100分並不太緊要, 因為如此我們便可以有進步空間.  反之, 每次拿100分的話就會有退步的壓力了.  

不竟小朋友只是小一生, 最重要是培養她們正確的學習態度及讀書的興趣, 成績在往後的日子才打算吧!(因為失分多是由於粗心大意的錯誤, 而因為小一要答的題目不多, 錯1-2條便已经扣了很多分了, 所以有90分已是很好.  取得100分就多數因為份卷不難做或小朋友是一個懂得謹慎作答的人.)

I added the English name when I first applied the passport for my girl.  He told me to signed on the application form for this additional information.  Then, the passport and the ID card has the English name.  I just copied the ID card and gave it to the school.  Her birth cert. does not has the English name.  I think it is OK since I had no problem when she went thru the customs.

May I know if you will bring your girls to school on Aug 1?  Do you think it is a good idea to go with her or we just go by ourselves to settle everything?

你們可於八月一日知道囡囡編入那一班的. 去年, 我約了幾个在BK新識的MCS's MUMs在禮堂見面,然後一起去食飯、傾計.  我們都帶了小朋友, 好讓她們先認識一下.  其中一個小朋友就同我女同班了.  因為買了書, 如果是當天取校服就要拿很多東西.  所以帶架購物車及工人來拿東西就冇咁辛苦了.

如果打算買完書就算, 那便無謂帶小朋友了, 因為要拿東西,又要拖住小朋友是很麻煩的.

亞囡其實都好平淡又無驚無險咁過渡了她的小一生涯.  不過我自己就做了半年的家長義工, 負責每星期一天去派飯給小朋友.  有機会睇到亞女點樣在學校食飯, 又可以見到佢班同學.  雖然有點頻撲, 但是值得的.  

所以, 如各位家長有時間就做家長義工啦!  小朋友見到自己的媽咪來派飯会好高興的.  而且只有小一及小二才有家長義工派飯, 過了這个機会就冇架啦!如果家長有門手藝, 還可以做每星期五的課外活動的導師, 那便有更多機会接觸到班小朋友了！

Thanks so much for your advice always.  Just want to double-check if the parent's day/orientation will be held closer to the first day of school.  I remember seeing people mentioning Aug 25 for a 2-hr session.

I don't kow the date for P.1, for P.2 it is on 8/28.  I remember last year was also around 1 week before the school term started.

Don't bring your kid as the orientation is not for the kids but for the parents.  I recalled some parents brought their kids on that day and the school arranged the kids in one of the classroom to wait.

Thanks for your sharing and useful advice.   Perhap "無驚無險咁過渡小一" is the happy ending many of us wish to see.

The following is the calculation of maximum reserved feeder's school places base on EMB's allocation method:  

Existing method (2006 F1)

[1 - (20% + 5%)] x 85% = 64%

20% = central allocation quota
5% = deducation for repeaters
85% = reserve for feeder school (eg. MSC primary)

New method: 2007 and after
[1 - (30% + 5%)] x 85% = 55%


The above % is the maximum in the central allocation stage.  

Does anyone know that if  MSC secondary as a parent school choose to reserve for both Band 1 and Band 2 or just Band 1 from MSC primary?

Can any one tell that where are the remaining students allocated ? Can they be allocated other good Band 1 schools ???

按理應該不只55%.  因為首輪的30%中, 應設大約有20%是收MCS小學部的學生而餘下的收外生.  這就是一般直屬學校所說的全級頭80名應該可以直入中學部.  餘下的學生就要在第二輪抽纖, 而這一輪就有85%的學位会收MCS的小學生.  如此計來, 應該大約是75%吧!

Yes.  "55%" is only calculation the for the central allocation controlled by the computer in stage 2.


It's also my concern that how the school would like to make use of the discretionary place.   I'm pleased to hear that they take in 20% MSC students and 10% outsiders.

Any idea about their criteria?  The best students or ???

May I know which "lunch box" provider serves for MCS.  Do you know the comments about it?

I am thinking whether I should pack lunch for my girl or order it via school?

20%/10% in the 1st round is my estimation.  Please don't treat this a real data.  What we heard last year was that the 1st - 80th top students from the P.6 can get the seat in 1st round.  But that was based on the old system, which 20% in the 1st Round.  Since in 2007, the % will be increased to 30%, therefore, the number of students from MCS primary should be slightly increased. (I hope.)  

I think you will hear about this information on 8/25.

According to the 中學概覽:-
自行分配中一學位準則與比重：品行及態度15%；課外活動表現15%；學業成績15%；才能及其他成就25%；面試表現30%。

I don't remember the full name.  It should be something like : 臻美. 應該是提供飛機餐的那一間.

我個人覺得唔好食.  (我試過一盒.  雖然飯盒個樣好似好好味咁.)  大多數小朋友都是要家長義工迫才吃完一半. 食完2/3的就已經好叨.  我個女食咗2個月就轉帶飯壺了.  再問佢都話寧願帶飯喎!

帶飯亞囡就比較麻煩, 但就一定是亞囡想食的東西及份量, 唔會浪費食物.  妳可以讓囡囡先試訂飯一個月再決定.

I am planning to pack lunch for my girl too as it is more healthy.  Only afraid the vegetable will change to "yellow" and the school bag getting more heavy.
