Which school is your target school in Net 41?

Hi LLT,

I think is 喇沙小學. 其實我對呢區嘅學校認識不是太深。 我選呢間既原因主要是名氣和口碑吧！ 我覺得一間學校的學習氣紛和校風對小孩會有很深遠的影響，所以我很希望可為兒子選一間好學校。

但我只得15分............... :cry: 很怕處理/安排失當，在大抽獎失敗後變為要去"一般/差"的學校時，便進入滿盤皆輸的狀況。

心想，反正自己什麼分也沒有，如在屋村選村內最Top的那間也是等如大抽獎，倒不如碰碰運氣(course I have two address)

我不知這樣想對或錯，請指點！！

另外，請問讀這些"名校"有什麼要留意呢？孩子之間會不會有"資產、物質比較"的觀念？

If your target school is La Salle, I believe the chance of your getting a seat with 15 marks in the first round is zero and can only rely on the 2nd round lucky draw!  One of my friends whose son has 20 marks was unable to secure a seat this year.  This may, of course, due to the effect of 'Dragon Year'.  But the situation will probably the same next year if you have only 15 marks in hand.

It is still not easy to get a seat at La Salle even though you try to rely on the 2nd round lucky draw.  This is because the population (no. of applicants) of Net 41 can be big when the true and untrue addresses are added together.  Parents from various districts in Kowloon, and also from the New Territories, can find ways to have their address reported in this net.  In so far as boys are concerned, most parents in Net 41 will choose La Salle as their first choice in the lucky draw.  This significantly reduces your chance of success.

Accordingly, as a matter of tactic you may consider other Lasallian schools in area where the 'population' is much smaller than that in Net 41 .  One of the good choices is Net 12 where there are goods school for boys and girls, but less competitive than that in Net 41 in term of 'population'.

This is also the reason that I finally moved into Net 12 instead of Net 41 last year after careful consideration and on the advice of my friends.

Your information is very useful.  What do you think about Hip Yan and Maryknoll?  Would it be better chance to get Hip Yan than Maryknoll in second round?

因為外家水電仍然係用我名，所以我有2個選擇。但我就應該唔會特登搬啦(要save money for child futher use!!)

其實我都知道我首輪係唔會有機會，但我仍想"博"嘅原因，係因為我另一區嘅心儀學校嘅入到機會一樣係 0 %，但大抽獎嘅幾會率當然高過La Salle，不過都仍然係等"中獎"。如果未能抽中，亦係會跌去唔係太好的學校。而呢的學校我相信於抽獎失敗後叩門亦有60-80% ok。

區內亦有一間"相當不錯"的學校，但校舍好舊，冷氣及設施欠奉。放於第一意願應該有點希望，如放次選= 0%。但這間真只是我心目中的次選。

所以我想知道應該於大抽獎時應如何安排，因首輪幾會嘅然是0%，我是不是應放其他？好煩 :-|

都是那一句，我不知道我的想法對不對，所以希望過來人多多指點。

Apart from having heard of her name, I don't have any knowledge on Hip Yan.  For girls in Net 41, I believe most parents who play the lucky draw will put Maryknoll as their first choice.  As such, the chance of success is smaller than choosing school of equivalent or near standing in other district for the same reason I stated on La Salle.

If you are interest in Maryknoll you may also consider Marymount in Net 12, the latter was originally also founded by Maryknoll Sisters as early as in 1927 and, too, has her owner secondary school - Marymount Secondary School.

My experience this year demonstrates that Net 12 is a good net on Hong Kong side, as my son got St. Joseph, his good classmate got Wah Yan, and anther got Marymount, all being their respective first choice.
