I have two questions about SPN & SPK - can anyone help me to answer them

1) what is the girl:boy ration at SPN & SPK ie how many boys in one class?

2) someone told me that St Paul's primary school will give preference to SPK girls and then if there are any vacancies left, then they will accept SPN girls. Is that true? I thought that both SPK and SPN are "one dragon" into the primary school?

Answer to No1:
SPN: About 2-6 boys/ around 30 students in total.

Answer to No2: Students from both SPK and SPN would be promoted to SPCS. Equal chances.

This year, most of the girls  in SPN and SPK  take SPC as the first choice  and even do not apply the "Lucky Draw".  Only a few of them who  have accepted by  St. Paul's Co-ed or DGS will give up the place.  This is a  good school and through-train to secondary school if the girls can get a pass in Chinese, English and Maths. It is worthy trying.

SPCS has already changed to DSS from 2004 but still participates in central allocation.  Sometime ago, the school management announced to withdraw from central allocation and become through-train DSS from 2007 onwards, which is a great attraction to parents.  I know some parents don't even bother to take the lucky draw this year.

Your neighbour is not the same case. This year, SPC still join F.1 central allocation by Government  (Even it have been changed to DSS school  several years a go)but not  anymore in the future. The allocation of F.1 seats will be under the control of SPC but not the Government in the future.  When your kids get a place this year, they will have 11 years  school life in SPC.
If you really have interest in this school, keep on the contact with the school. You will get more news after June.

so if there are so few boys in the class and most parents are not bothering with the primary one lucky draw , then statistically, it is quite possible that not all the SPN and SPK students will get a place in Primary one, am I right?

下年情況都應該差唔多.  除非St. Paul's Co-ed or DGS收啦, 否則都無乜邊個會走既嘞!

As I know,  there are some will give up the seats, as they already get seats at Maryknoll, St Paul Co-edu, DGS and St Mary.

Every year they will have around 10 outsiders.  I guess some kids will go to St Paul Co-ed, MCS, DGS, international school….

They should have chance after P1 lucky draw announcement.  Pls try for your kids.

MCS is Maryknoll Convent School

In relation to ranking of those schools, a lot depends on what factors are important to you (school fees, school surroundings, academic results, background of other students, location etc ) but for me, if you are thinking of academic results, I would rank them

DGS
St Paul's Coed
St Paul's Convent
Maryknoll
St Mary

However it is quite difficult to compare because they all have different pros and cons
