International Schools in HK vs. Private/Independent Schools in the US/UK

We discussed a lot about the quality of the international schools in Hong Kong and there were many elite schools such as GSIS, CIS, HKIS, FIS, cited in this forum.

As we all know, IS in HK are expensive relatively speaking.  Going to IS in HK is like going to private school in the US or independent school in the UK, well,  at least from the school fees perspective .  Therefore, I wonder how these schools compared to the top private/independent school in the US and UK.  Are they as competitive ?  Are they as good ? Has anyone done any research in this area ?
