APS - admit to P.3 in 2nd term (urgent help)

Dear parents:
Can any parents share with me of the curriculum, teaching method and musical development of the school?
English syllabus seems to be difficult as students are requested to read the readers and prepare for the examination.  
Please give your suggestions on teaching kids for coping with the school mission.
Overall, the impression of the school teachers and students are very helpful to me.

我的囡囡現正在宣小讀小二。你的兒子（或女兒）會在宣小讀小三，我相信將來還有很多事情，要向妳請教。

妳有學校網址的密碼，沒有？在學校的網址，可以下載小一至小六的英文教學範圍(Cycle Plan)。妳可以根據Cycle Plan為妳的子女準備英文科。

至於音樂訓練，妳的子女是學甚麼樂器的呢？有些插班生會被安排參加學校的合唱團，而不用練習樂器。

宣小的教學方法算是傳統教學，不過都有一些親子功課，需要家長幫忙。

插班生的成績可以全班最好的，也可以是最差的。我知道有一些由官津校轉來的學生跟得很辛苦，覺得壓力比以前大，但亦有一些在音樂和學術兩方面都名列前矛。我想父母在學業上不應給予太大的壓力，讓孩子先適應這個轉變，就會有好成績。

我都想知有甚麼方法可以讓自己的女兒在宣小做得更好。大家可以研究一下。目前，小二的功課不多，我就讓我的女兒盡量參加她喜歡的課外活動，享受校園生活。不過，我都擔心高年班的壓力會很大，因為大家要競爭入好的中學。

Dear Chichipapa:
Thanks for your prompt information.  Actually, l do not know that Cycle plan can be retrieved from the school internet.  I will read and digest the material before l teach my daughter.  My daughter is luckily recruited to the Flute group in musci lessons because she had learnt flute for 2 years already.  
I will try my best to teach my daughter to keep pace with other students in academic side.  For the music side, do you know that is it difficult to join in the school orchestra or percussion band?

妳最好在頭幾堂group lessons on flute，陪同妳的女兒上課，早些認識教flute的導師和其他學flute的學生家長。妳的女兒已學了兩年flute，可能是時候以私人課的形式上課，而非參予group lessons。導師和家長們應該可以給予妳一些意見。

Welcome to APS.  Wishing your child will enjoy the school life.  My daughter also in P2.

I think your child should be very smart to be admitted.  I agree with ChiChiPaPa that new students may take a little time to adjust to the new school.  Many of them would do very well and some may find it a bit difficult to adjust in the beginning.  Don't worry, I think classmates and teachers will give support!  Don't hesistate to ask for help from teachers and talk to the parents if needed!

If you have time, there are a morning gathering for parents on Wed morning at the church of the school.  You may get to know parents from different grades and they are willing to share with you!  They have different topics every Wed morning at 9 but I would recommend you to go earlier anytime from 7:30 as they have breakfast meeting.  Parents would gather to chat!

Thanks for your recommendation of Wednesday's meeting at church.  Can l know whether the meeting belongs to religious meeting or not?  I have no religious belief so l am afraid that l cannot join to the group.
At this moment, l can only encourage my daughter to recognise more friends and teachers to increase her social group.  For academic side, l will encourage her at the back as l am the working mother.  Support and reinforcement is important at this stage.

I do not have any religion preference myself.  

The meeting was organized by the school church but they do not hardsell!!!  Actually they welcome all parents to join them.  There are parents of kindergarten, former students.  They are free (charge and environment)  I think it is a great place to get to know the school and the students' life!

The headmistress will give a talk annually.  But you missed it, it was just done before Chinese New Year!
I concerned about the time if you are a working mother.  But you may think about the Sunday meeting they prepare for the parents weekly. But I had never attend but I heard it is also good.  They have different talks but I am not sure if they are religious.  They do welcome all parents to join regarding their religion preference!
