RE: Learning environment
Music cubicles - I'm not so sure if you have been to one of those rooms.
I personally don't like the practice rooms as they have not been well maintained. The wall papers are torn and water marks are shown.  
The lecture rooms are much better.  They are bright because they are situated across those music cubicles.
At times, individual instrumental classes may be taken elsewhere outside of the academy, depending on the individual instructor.

RE: Junior Music Programme Application - - General Information
The application starts usually in Mar. for all Junior Music Programmes. Different music courses (western & Chinese) are listed on their website.
Be sure to visit the website if you plan to apply for your child.
Auditions are required and start in May. Applicants will be notified in July. Duration of the course is 2 years. Students are required to take instrument examination in May each year. Exam results will be sent by post. Acceptance rate is low against the number of applicants each year.
The standard and expectations are high. You and your child need to devote a lot of time into the instrumental  practice.

I found that the youngest age may apply is 5, am I correct?  However I could not find any course for Piano that starts from 5.
There is only one start from 7, am I right?  
btw, how old is your child?

Dear mrsho,
You may apply for the Junior Music Programme courses if your child is within the age group specified under a particular course code in the catalog.
There are no specific requirements of music foundation for Beginners' Group Class (MJ307) but it would always be an advantage if your child has some sort of instrumental trainings if you plan to apply for, say, Beginners' Course (MJ301).
To me, Beginners' Group Class would be less competitive as a stepping stone to get in. Each applicant must go through the audition process and I believe the decision is based on the the child's performance during the audition.

There are pre-junior course for the age of 5, please check again.

My son applied that course at that age before.  He successed in the 1 first round interview, but failed in the last/ second round.

Their requirement, standard and expectation are extremely very high.  Those accepted are talent guys.  Parents and students are expected to devote lot of time, at least double as usual.

My son learnt some short term course (not music course) in APA last year.  I feel that their learning atmosphere is very good.  Besides, my son's violin teacher is come from APA.  He also said their practical standard is very high and good.

How did you know my son gets Grade 4 piano????  He's nuts!!!  He sure told your girl that, right?

In fact, NO!  He is preparing Grade4 piano only, but not already got that!  Such silly guy!!!  Ha!

Thanks for your information.  That means I still have 2 years to go to prepare for my child.  She is going to be 3 on the coming April.  As I would like to choose one musical instrument for her but I don't know which kind suits her and when is the best time to start?  
Would you please share with me why did you choose violin for your son and where does he learning now?  Where did he start?  
I really do not have any clue or planning about this.  Did you send him to a certain course before starting the formal violin lesson?
Please kindly offer your suggestion. Thanks.

Dear mrsho,
Your child doesn't necessarily need to have a music foundation for course MJ307 (Beginners' Group Class). That was what I had been told by the academy staff at the time when I considered to apply for my child.
For course MJ301, it's better to let your child learn the musical instrument you would like her to be trained at before you apply.  

When you apply, you can choose one of those instruments listed under the course code. Say, if you choose violin, for example, then you will need to prepare a piece of music for your child to play in front of the audition panel.

There isn't any specific guide or preference.
In my case, I just let my child choose between piano or violin, 2 of the most popular musical instruments most young children learn to play in HK.

      想問，那個course 是有兩次interview嗎？都是在同一個月分面試嗎？兩次都是自選曲去考嗎？考官有幾多個人呢？要達到什麼程度才有機會收呢？媽媽是否不可以進去睇佢考呢？(佢個人好緊張下.....不...係十分緊張..)
