Re: DBSPD vs DPS
But happydaddy06 pointed out one important point.
DPS students have a higher chance (marginally higher) to be admitted to DBS compared to other primary schools. But this has repercussions.
The other secondary schools would also think:
1. students from DPS would have a higher chance to be admitted to DBS, and so the chance of them accepting other offers (if he is given 2 offers) would be minimal;
2. students from DPS would have preempted to choose DBS when they graduate. So DBS is their first choice, so even when they apply other good secondary schools (like other Band One schools), those secondary schools would think these students are only seeking reserve/safety-net. So they psychological would not take these students in the first place if there are other equally good students putting their secondary school as the first choice;
3. most importantly, people would tend to think those good students (academically, musically or physically) would be selected by DBS first. Any students left behind are second class.
I personally do not think these (especially prejudice) are true, but as a matter of fact, human tend to think this way - oversimplified.
So the end result is, DPS students (I mean the boys) would either be admitted to DBS, or to 3rd or 4th class secondary schools. This is a wild guess, I don't mean to hurt anybody. Just imagine, there are 500+ primary school in HK, many top-notched students from these schools would also apply DBS. Together with the 150 students from DBSPD, so how many places are left to DPS (if there is such a mechanism).
For girls graduating at DPS, this is an entirely different issue. There are still 5 years, many things could happen, too many unpredictable factors...... |
