搬屋 for apply on 2006, when to move?

Hi all moms

I would like to 搬屋 to Wan Chai because want to join gov't mark six school system on 2006.  Any mom can advice me that when I should move according to gov't guildline.  Should it be before May 2006 or earlier?

May be before 9-2006.  Because you will apply the school at Late 9-2006.

I live in Chai Wan.  I would like to apply Wah Yan.  How about you?

If you do not want to move too early, the last month will be December of 2006.  It is because the applicants can change their address before January of each year. (mid of January will be the month for lucky draw).  But you need to go to the central office of ED to submit your letter.

Just clarify first! Your son/girl will apply the P1 in 2007 (not 2006).  Am I right?

I heard that after 1st round allocation (end of Sep), you can change address for 2nd round (Central) allocation - to be submitted early Jan 2007.  But I don't know whether it is risky or not.

For 1st round allocation, some schools need the utility bill such as electricity and Towngas bill for address proof.  I don't know the case for Central allocation.  So, you need to think about the lead time of getting the bill.

My suggestion only:
Move house no later than June 2006.  You submit the new address during 1st round allocation and you don't need to bother to change address for Central allocation. Remember! You and your kid will be very busy during Sep-Nov for DSS/private school interivew if you apply them.

If you really apply DSS/private school, I suggest you to move house earlier.  Reason - let your kid familar with the new environment.  Interviewer will have a great change to ask where you live, or may ask what facilities/building is near your home.  Your kid may not be able to answer if he/she just moves to the new environment for a short period of time.

May I ask that where I can know the area (from which street to which street) would be included in Wan Chai net?

我剛打過電話去問大抽獎最遲要幾時改地址, 她們解釋得好詳細, 如果06年讀小一的學生, 必須於06年1月中前由父母親身到灣仔的辦事處更改地址, 才可於新地址的區裏選校

I think the expense for living in Wanchai is higher than the expense for living in Chai Wan. The difference may be already enough for the DSS/private school fee. Pls consider.

I am thinking about to rent a small room with cheap price for one yr. We won't move to wan chai directly because I know the house is quite expensive in Wan Chai.  If a very good house, I cannot afford.  If a cheap house, the environment may be worse than my current situation ( I live in Heng Fa chuen).  Do you think whether it is possible?  If I apply DSS /private school, the school fee for 6 years is a lot of money.  I will think about private school if there is really no other good option.

you said "2nd round (大抽獎 application) - should be early Jan".  But 大抽獎 application for 2006 has already submitted.  I don't think early Jan woh!

Oh! Really! Are you sure?  My kid is a lucky one in 1st round, so I don't pay much attention on 2nd round.

Your idea of renting a small room with cheap price should be possible.  I think you mean a house instead of a room as I read the other sentences. If just a room, you cannot have your name printed on the utility bill (only the owner of the house can).

I don't have much information about your background to give you advice. However, please think thoroughly about your plan with following consideration:

1. Can the child easily adopt the environmental changes?
2. The time and expense for the travelling for the child and family members may cover the school fee of DSS/private school, i.e. ranging $1XXX-$3XXX per month.
3. Is there really significant difference between the schools at Wanchai and schools at Chai Wan?

I understand that you plan this for the child's own good. However, please think about whether your child will be happy under this arrangement.

其實早前報了什麼的區都可以在06年1月15日前轉區, 1st round無分區, 只有大抽獎先要有限制。我真是打過去教育署去問過, 他們真是解釋得好詳細, 有唔明快d找他們問清楚吧!
