Re: 2.5yr old cannot not recognise ABC or 123

Oh yeah, she is studying in an international primary school (they admit students into P1 when they are five years old, and they don't need to attend K3).
They don't push students to learn English. Local schools will usually teach common words like apple, orange, girl, boy .... But my daughter's schools (and many other international schools) will first let them recognize the most frequently used words instead, e.g. they, we, went. was..., so that they can start reading books very quickly by themselves. That's the key.
And, as I have said, I taught my daughter phonics and that's another reason why she knows many words which she has never seen before, e.g. she can pronounce the word "flour", "funny", "clown".... by using the phonic approach. So English is very very easy to her.
And, the school aims to cultivate an interest of reading in the kids. They ask parents not to push them to read, but make reading a joy. Kids will bring home a book every day and they need to read it to the parents themselves. That also help them to recognize the words naturally.

你個女讀國際學校??.......有邊間local學校可以3個月內就睇到ort stage 4/5??咁係咪仲谷?? [/quote]
所以咪話囉....係國際學校梗係快啦.......that's why that don't push student's to learn english, 佢地都比到個環境....比我如果讀普通私校.....我會加多少少讀國際...... |
