這次是顏色.

1. I have three pencils. They are blue. (填藍色of course)
2. I have one book. It is green. (填綠色)
3. I have four cups. They are colourful. (填彩色)
4. I have two bottles. They are red and yellow. --- 請問應一個填紅, 一個填黃 or 兩個都填紅黃兩色????

我既理解係:  red = 紅色, yellow = 黃色,  所以 red and yellow = 紅色及黃色;  如果佢既意思係"紅黃色", 就應該係叫reddish yellow.

但係我諗小一題目唔會tricky到呢個意思.

我覺得係一個bottle 有兩種色. I mean you can see both red and yellow on both bottles.
因為如果一個紅, 一個黃, 應該會講 I have two bottles. One is red, one (the other) is yellow.

我覺得係紅加黃,指一個bottle上的顏色. 相反如果形容兩個bottle應該說one is red and one is yellow.

Yes, that sounds logical.

But the point is will you say in that way.

I would not.
I would say "I have 2 kids. One is 5, the other is 2."

Don't know what a native speaker would say.

It would be a bit too clumsy to say "one is red and the other is yellow", unless we want to emphasize they have different colours.

So I think the meaning is 一個紅, 一個黃

It should be one is red, one is yellow.

If each one contains red and yellow, they would say "I have two bottles. They are both red and yellow".

其實, it's a matter of expression.  有人話 "one is yellow and the other is red", 亦有人話  "they are red and yellow", 2者都正確, 只係表示方式唔同.

至於"紅溝黃" 即橙橙黃黃... 我地平時可能會有呢個想法, 每個人既表達方式唔同., 不過要知道, 呢條只係小學題目, 無需要深究個colour係 red/orange/yellowish red/ reddish yellow.....

我認為這條題目出得唔好，有歧義(ambiguity)，老師應把兩種填法都算對:
1. 一個紅一個黃
2. 兩個分別都係紅黃二色

I have three bottles. They  are red and yellow.

咁點計先?
2紅1黃?OR2黃一紅?

What i mean is "red and yellow" 連用 is  very common in English to describe one object with 2 colours: I have a dress, it is red and yellow.

But on the other hand, one red and one yellow is also correct (just as quite a no. of mummies have said).

I agree to Mountainview's interpretation.

If each bottle contains two colours. It should say "I have two bottles. Each of them is in red and yellow" or MountainView's suggestion.

So, I think one is red and the other is yellow.

全對﹗是老師出題出得不好。可以改成﹕
1) I have two bottles: one of which is RED and the other one is YELLOW.  (在寫作上我們會這樣寫)
2) I have two bottles. While one of them is red, the other is yellow. (這就比較常用於對話)

Dear all,

I have made a mistake and double checked with an Native English Teacher.  The right answer is both bottles are "red and yellow".
