net 41 or net 31

In this case, as you said the 1st round is hopeless.  Then you are target the 2nd round "lucky draw".

I think you need to compare the schools in both nets and consider the priority of your choices.

For both nets, what are your choices?

我自己比較喜歡Maryknoll，雖然學額比較多，但net41相對競爭比net31較大，所以都唔係咁容易入到。

The 2nd round - Central Allocation is "lucky draw".  That means all by "luck".

If you are under "lucky draw", I think there is no big difference for choosing either Net 41 or Net 31. Many parents will choose these 2 Nets.

I am more familar with Net 41 and I am in this Net too.  There are many schools for girls - Maryknoll, DPS, Holy Family (Kowloon Tong & Kowloon City), Kowloon Tong Government Primary School, Kei Wa......

I am not so familiar with Net 31 so I cannot comment.

I am facing a same issue and I believe so are for many parents. I am still considering whether 41 or 31 for my girl. It's right that Maryknoll is so competitive. But St. Mary is not weak that chance is not guarantee. In 31, you can also consider Yaumatei Catholics which is famous too.

Hi princessma,

Let me share the experience as same situation for me in last year, to decide what net in between Net41 or Net 31 as I also got the above addresses within my family.  Maryknoll and St Mary is also our ultimate choice.  

In net 41, there are famous schools as mentioned, and in net 31, choices are not that many with 2 YMT Catholic other than St Mary, 循道學校 may be the 2nd choice which are quite similar level as Holy Family and Kowloon Tong Government.  In net 41, there are 3 girl schools including Marynoll and 2 Holy family (some may take Holy Family as the 1st choice), but only St Mary in net 31.  So you can imagine that although Marynoll is generally more famous than St Mary, competition is quite similar to Marynoll.   

So firstly, you need to consider which one do you like the most, and secondly, whether those 2nd choices will also be accepted.  Lastly, apply private schools as back up in case of very poor allocation, and prepare for "knock door" in 3rd round.  That's the rule of the "game" !!

Also would like to advise you that choosing a net is of course important, but to prioritize the choices is also important for central allocation.  For the 1st choice, it is recommended to be the one you like the most (although there is someone said choose the less famous will have better chance).  Secondly, don't put those top famous school in the 1st 3 choices, e.g. Marynoll and DPS, or YMT Catholic and St. Mary.  The second choice should be the one you still find okay with it.  If not, you may be allocated to some schools that you may never hear the name before.  Please try to search from the previous topics.  Lastly, apply private school is also necessary as we do experience a very nervous period as we don't have any.  What KG is your daughter now?
