"Not only do IB students from disadvantaged backgrounds do well at university, they do as well, if not better, than wealthier non-IB students."

"The reasons for academic success, she speculates, is that the IB develops critical thinking and the ability to challenge assumptions while building resilience and self-motivation."

Not sure how big is the research population but still encouraging.

More extract:

School students who opt for the International Baccalaureate over a traditional leaving certificate are almost 100 per cent certain to be offered a place at university and, once there, achieve higher marks and are far less likely to drop out, new research has found.

A study of students who undertook the IB diploma program in senior high school between 2013 and 2018 found almost all “who applied for university gained an offer to study”.

......

“But even for [IB] students from advantaged backgrounds, we can see they do better when they get to university than other [non-IB] students,” she [lead author Kylie Hillman from the Australian Council of Educational Research] said.
The reasons for academic success, she speculates, is that the IB develops critical thinking and the ability to challenge assumptions while building resilience and self-motivation.

Students undertake six subjects, three in-depth, along with a core subject called the theory of knowledge; write a 4000-word extended essay; and participate in social or community work, sport or other physical activities, as well as creative pursuits.

Above I attached the link of the executive summary.

From the summary, it’s a total cohort of all Australian secondary graduates, then split DP and Non-DP students.

Thanks! The link doesn’t work.. is it the same as the links below?

Although, there could be other factors indirectly affecting the research result. For example, kids and families who pick IBDP are more likely to have given higher priority and more considerations to “education” than those staying in the general Australian senior years curriculum . Because One may or may not need to make a decision to stay in the Australian curriculum; while they need to put in extra effort to get into IBDP which is only available in 3% of Australian HS. This could also have a correlation with a student’s University performance.
Still inspiring to know.
