Are you joining from local school or IS? For Y2, they have French assignment every week and students are expected to read/write French already (eg fill in the blanks). They have 4 French classes per week. Most parents I know have extra French classes for their kids.
They also have swimming class once per week including winter. Although it is indoor and with warm water, you better to prepare thick swimwear for your kid.

yes, they do have French homework at year 1. very simple, don't worry. my kid loves doing french homework

New joiners who are French beginners will be put in a separate small group during French lessons to help them catch up.

Y1 is very simple and they learn French with fun. Y2 is more structured and they need to read/write. They do have some long term objective but there is no grading, no consequence. So no need to worry.

ECA will have bus service as well, that the reason some parents like their kids to join ECA.
