嗰陣我女去到紐西蘭係學校帶佢出去開户口！我哋本身有HSBC HK，可以開埋HSBC NZ，HSBC(emoji)帳去全世界地區HSBC 戶口都係免費，咁每月經HSBC NZ過錢去呀女戶口，而當地銀行戶口之間亦係免費轉帳，呀女平時就用紐西蘭張debit card買嘢，同埋學校有咩費用都係用HSBC NZ俾。

我估澳洲都應該可以，你可以首先問吓學校可否轉交零用錢俾小朋友。另外問埋香港滙豐，而家HSBC ONE可以開埋海外戶口，睇吓可否幫小朋友開埋澳洲銀行戶口，不過要早D因為開海外戶口要時間，其實我女嗰陣原本都可以開埋HSBC NZ，但因為太遲問所以開唔切。

In my case (my child stayed in AU school boarding house):1. my child opened a youth account in an Australian bank, which includes a normal saving account, and a spending account that was connected to a debit card. In weekends, my child would transfer money from the saving account to the spending account, and used the debit card to pay. So even the debit card was lost or stolen, the loss can be minimized.
2. we opened an Australian account via HSBC, we can transfer money to the Australian account, then transfer to my child's saving account whenever we want, no transaction charge.
2. The school boarding house usually has some restrictions on the cash to be kept by the students in boarding house. You may check the policy guidelines. In my case, no more than AUD50- balance.
3. For some bigger expenses such as seeing a doctor, dentist, traveling to airport, etc, the boarding house paid for my child and charged us in regular school invoices.

You are welcome!
But I would like to remind:
- never expect the HSBC Australia is as efficient as HSBC, HK
- in my case, we took 1 mth to open the account in HSBC Australia successfully (via branch in HK), as told by the HK staff, the application was to be sent to Australia for processing.
- there will be a time gap between the time you make a money transfer and the time the money reaching your child's local account, in my case, it's 2 hours at least.
- when the local bank's office hours are over, transfer will be suspended till next business day, so no transfer in Sat, Sun, Australian holidays. So if you want your money can arrive your child's account b4 weekends, better do the transfer in am Friday.

P.S. if you child needs cash, other than ATM, he can get some cash from the cashier with the debit card when he purchases in a supermarket.
