In the first year of through-train, I think they still honoured the sibling priority before K2-Y1 transition. But now, they will process all K2 before non-K sibling. It is a way for ESF to get kids in early.

Thanks all for the enlightenment! That is consistent with what I’ve heard from ESF parents, that the school encourage them to send their siblings to ESF K to secure a Y1 seat. Thanks!

Last year, there was a red rainstorm during the pick up time. School buses were not allowed to run. It took us 2 hours (in taxi from Tsuen Wan) to get to school and 1 hour to get out...

Yes Yuen Long was under SJS catchment with school buses, doesn't matter now without zones.I think n ...
I have asked the parents in my class, most of their preference is SJS (They have FP) because of the location.
Do you know/think that dropping zone policy = the school will not consider our living place? Suppose all families priority are the same, will school just gather all families (wherever they live) and assign random number to do the lucky draw? If that is the case, our N.T. living close families need to fight with Kowloon & HK Island families.

I am actually curious how many NT/Kln parents will actually move house or commute long everyday to get to a more "preferred" schools for the kids, given that there are already popular schools in each area, say NT people will naturally go for SJS, and likewise KJS for Kln people. I assume Islanders are another group of people and won't move to NT only for SJS I assume? CWBS covers pretty much TKO, CWB/SK and some Kln/NT east area too. Just not sure where will NT west people go for as there is no school in the area.
Corrent me if I am wrong.

I'm fine as I don't have fp and felt that there is a fierce competition for SJS this year, so I may give up to take risk for SJS.
The point is most of my son's classmates are living in MOS / Shatin areas and holding FP. They mostly want to get into SJS. With zone policy, I think most of them can get the first preference. But without the zone policy, they may need to fight with the families also with FP from outside areas. That mean without zone policy will be their disadvantages. I just worried they will get the third / fourth preferences. (Because they hold FP, I think the school may not allocated them to RC)

i think yes "孟母三遷" ma, even some families will move becoz of the zoning in local school system. Did you check "upstairs" that one parent told that she would like to try SJS as her child studied in ESF Hillside now.
Also some parents living in Kowloon Tong area can either choose KJS / SJS as they are quite close to Fotan as well.

I just searched CWB that there is school bus covered in NT East area. So I'm still considering putting it to third / fourth choice...lol

一定係,Shatin College已經多年係狀元榜榜首。不過RC都追緊上嚟

Cheaper school fee compared to RC and good academic results - Parents' favourite la :D
I believe putting RC at 2nd is still safe, given most FP/siblings kindy would go to 1st choice, SJS/KJS as both are big schools they absorb lots of priority kids. Those remainders fighting with you at 2nd choice for RC won't have much priority I guess?

I just wonder who would be so desperately wanting to go to RC putting it as 1st. Those who want Traditional Chinese and IB-through train?

They will still be allocated to RC if put as second choice. RC need at least 70% local for the whole school, and there are way more locals in the senior years (a lot of 插班生)

I really know some parent with FP that want to go to RC. Simply because likes traditional language and they thought SJS is more tough and RC is more focus on music, arts, sports...etc

Also, because of the non-zoning policy, I think school will try to "throw" all non-fp to RC to keep the ratio.

Don't think thats the case for ESF kindy. Seems if places are available at their preferred foundation schools they have no mechanism to throw you to DC/RC?
