CDNIS (bilingual stream) vs VSA

Hi all, CDNIS has recently started bilingual stream in its early year program. May I ask if you have any comments or feedback regarding this new curriculum? Is there any current parents that can share more information on this?

How to compare between the 2 schools (CDNIS and VSA), in terms of academics, student population and any other aspects?

Would appreciate any comments or information. Many thanks!

CDNIS has always had bilingual stream (along with international stream), just that starting next year all streams will be bilingual (i.e. no more international). My kid has not been to both schools so I cannot really tell the differences, but I would imagine VSA Chinese will be a tad stronger than CDNIS, as by default VSA has at least 70% of local families.
But I would imagine the student mix of CDNIS will be tilted towards families looking for strong Chinese + non-local curriculum going forward and will be more like VSA.

Wondering how cdnis runs the bilingual program, using one day English while another day using PTH. So the teachers are switching the languages everyday?

Yes seems VSA and CDNIS are quite similar, IB and stronger Chinese. How to decide between the two..

I think first is to visit both schools, talk to the teachers and get a taste of the culture of the schools. Other things to consider would be:
1. Location
2. Student Mix (VSA needs at least 70% local, while CDNIS has no such requirement)
3 Tuition
4 Their historical IB scores/university placement

one day english and one day pth.  two seperate home room teachers + TAs

VSA - EN and PTH teachers teach together in the early stage.

2022年CDNIS 有96位IBDP考生，當中6位取得Bilingual Diploma。

根據網上資料，VSA去年有大概115人考IBDP, 有接近63%取bilingual diploma。

跟VSA一樣是PIS的RCHK, 去年126位考生，取bilingual diploma的只有25位學生。

所以就算同屬PIS、都要收70%有本地身份的學生，但因兩間學校嘅語文政策完全不同，所以效果會有好大分別。

孩子已畢業，唔知是否update: VSA years 1 to 5 雙班主任制，課堂上中英並用，交project 亦要有中英文，另外亦有個別英文和中文時段, year 6 之後除中文科外全英文

IS通常中文是一個個別subject,  每星期學習多少時數，vsa小學階段英文和中文也是課堂上語文，接觸和運用中文時間較多，但普通孩子仍偏向英文，閱讀會愛多看英文書

若果以PYP 時的Maths 或Unit Of Inquiry為例，兩位老師如何分工？一人教一個unit/一人教一part去推進主題/同一part以中文英文各講一次？

RCHK 因為從小學開始就只有中文堂用中文（普通話為授課語言, 有繁/簡字提供），所以中文能力只是「有限公司」。

No. The English home room teacher doesn’t speak Chinese but the Chinese home room teacher can communicate with parents in English but only speaks Chinese to the kids.
