心大心細想從本地小學插班讀SISHK

想請教各位，我個小朋友係香港長大，但係有sg passport, 一直讀本地普通中文小學，成績普通，我知道走香港教育條路，將來升中考dse一定困難。明年讀小四，我正考慮試下報名轉入sishk, 聽講有公民身份收的機會好高，請問正確嗎？

另外想請教:
1.除左學費債券，每年仲有無有其他開支?

2. 讀開本地中文小學，英文一般，入到去讀會唔會好吃力?

3. 學校對於本地學校來的插班生，有沒有特別支援?

4. 我地一介平民，同學及家長之間階級觀念重嗎？

不好意思，問題比較多，希望有熟悉學校的朋友可以指教一下。謝謝

有sg passport會收。除咗學費capital levy好少其它強制開支。對新學生有支援（例如英文等）。校風正，無攀比風氣。

For clarity, SISHK isn't as easy as everyone thinks.  It's known for strong academic rigor.  So if the idea is to move from a local school (because the marks are average) to SISHK in hopes for easier marks, it probably won't work that way.

Also the way local schools teach vs. IS teach is very different styles.  Also SISHK using simplified chinese.

I think important you consider all elements before making changes.  Most importantly, will this change be positive for your child in terms of new friends, environment, learning style, etc.

Thank you for your reply, there are many reasons why we are considering SISHK. I want my son to learn English well, I think he may have the opportunity to study and live in Singapore in the future, also, he will have to do his military service in Singapore in the future, so it would be better for him to meet more Singaporean friends in Hong Kong now.

We will think about it.

I wonder what kind of support the school gives to local school transfer students? Do you have any idea?

Unfortunately I do not have the answer to your question on the local support.  But I do know that SISHK will give priority to Singaporeans to their school.   So I think getting acceptance is not hard for your child.
I'm sure SISHK has a good support resources within their school.  Most IS schools have better resources compared to local schools because the tuition that parents pay are much higher and funds for these sorts of activities and resources for the children.

1. 每年有Camping/出國遊學，疫情時Camping每年over HKD 3000。遊學就3-4萬左近。每年都有CCA活動要選擇，每人最多選3樣，每樣活動一般收費3000左右。
2. 英文一般會吃力，尤其是Science，好多專業名詞要記背。英數大部分為Realworld Problems,對理解英文題目能力有一定要求。英文科涉及好多Fiction同Non Fiction文章/書籍嘅分析，不時要求寫A4紙長嘅分析報告或者Book Review.
3. 插班生有Buddy Support. 小學階段，如果學業有困難，老師會開放學後嘅補習課比需要嘅學生。完全免費嘅。
4. 無階級觀念，學生家庭都係普通中產為主，少數有家庭較富裕嘅學生，但學生之間無攀比。

請問出國遊學是必須的嗎？每年3至4萬，真不便宜

不是必須的，也不是每個學生都會去。

Yes. CCA最多選3項，一般最少也會選1項。遊學團係自由選擇，有需要可以付費參加。

It sounds great. How many subjects do primary school students have to study? Is there a lot of homework in P4 and P5? How many exams are there in a year?

書大概每年HK$2000左右，午飯每餐HK$40左右，中學係自己八達通買飯，買多買少的差別吧。校服唔介意嘅話可以學期初買二手校服，PTA會組織義賣。

Major Subjects: English, Maths, Chinese, Science

Homework: Not too much in the primary school. My daughter can finish most of the homework at school when she was P6. But there are some projects in the long holidays like spring break and autumn break. It takes a few days to finish the projects.

Exam: Only 2 exams a semester. CA1+CA2.

The school culture is very simple and different from other international schools. Has the school fee increased every year in recent years? Will there be any future increases?

There are increases year by year. I cannot tell how much increase each year. It is not a stable figure.

除了經濟考慮，看不到甚麼原因不轉
初初英文可能要追下，愈早愈容易追
其實IS大部分人都係比得起學費的中產，沒有甚麼階級觀念。

我們有一個想法，就是小朋友有這個身份可以入讀，接受優質的教育，而父母不願意付出，感覺好像剝奪了小朋友。當然，前題是有passport真的必收，而入讀真的會讓小朋友好，至少較現在讀地區小學好

先回答樓主部分問題:
1. 除左學費債券，每年仲有無有其他開支?
家長交了一次性的$200K debenture (退學時可取回)後還需要每年交20K levy (SG passport holder 平一些, 網頁上有資料, 這部分是non-refundable的)。CCA, 去camp 費用, oversea trips 等費用其他網友分享了, 想補充一下overseas trip 小學六年級只有一次Taiwan Immersion Programme, 10K以下, 到中學印象中初中大多只去亞洲地方, 費用不特別貴 (我大仔中一時學校搞了一個新加坡study tour, 好似10K左右, 但後來因為疫情取消了), 到高中時才有機會去歐美等地方, 幾多錢我就不太清楚了, 學校鼓勵全部學生去, 但也有學生不參加, 冇壓力的。

2. 讀開本地中文小學，英文一般，入到去讀會唔會好吃力?
如果本身英文一般的話應該會幾大挑戰，因為去到4-5年級已經有好多長文寫作, presentation等等。

3. 學校對於本地學校來的插班生，有沒有特別支援?
聽講有，但確不太清楚詳細，可能自己問學校比較清楚。

4. 我地一介平民，同學及家長之間階級觀念重嗎？
呢樣冇。SIS小朋友大多好純品的，啱玩就一齊玩，冇人在乎你屋企是否有錢，家長也平實。
