How difficult to get in GSIS kindi?

GSIS requires a rather high application fee while it says explicitly that applicants usually start applying since the child is born and these is long queue. my child is now 2 yrs old. is that too "late" to apply?

No, not too late, it got 2 classes of K1 now(before only 1 class) so they will interview more cases and it’s easier to get in. This year many siblings get in than before.

good to know. but 2 classes are still very little space  

unlike other schools which usually usually describe how caring their schools are. an introductory email from GSIS focuses quite a lot on academic excellence.  is that a demanding school? I only know the school is famous and many smart local student will transfer in during secondary. not so much on their kindi and primary

In kinder they just learn through play, when you pay a visit in PFK campus you will see classrooms filled with toys, doll houses ,kitchen for cooking class etc. Outdoor playground is huge, they even have water playing tub for water playing session (which they need to change themselves). They learn a bit fast together compared to some other IS, because they are at similar levels and mostly big B, but age appropriate with no homework. They are well taught in good classroom behaviour and daily manners, and encouraged to be independent. If your kid’s character is independent and relatively mature to the age, he/she should fit in well.
The primary school is well balanced in children wellbeing and academics. English & maths are well taught, for chinese you need outside supplement at lower primary.
At secondary there will be 20+ spots for new comers (about half from IS and half from LS). I think secondary is becoming more academic as they have to prepare to sit for public exam.

I believe it’s not as difficult as before since quite some people left. I registered my kid last year when he was 2.5yo already - back then the school said not much chance to get an interview since the wait list is very long. However we got an interview earlier this year and an offer in the end.

I noticed that the school starts quite early and it is mandatory to take school bus. what's your experience on it.

I check on webpage that the school bus route is quite limited. I wonder what if the bus route doesn't cover my address? do I still need to take school bus?

when you start your application online, u will get an auto generated email

I think everyone needs to take school bus. You can always Try to ask the bus company to set up a new stop close to you.

They cope well, my kid even stay behind to join ECA, she didn’t nap since little but went to bed early.
The exact time is 7:40-12:15. 7:40-8 is just social time. First break at 9 and there are at least two 20-30mins breaks for snacks and play. The lessons are play based including outdoor time so kids won’t get bored.
Of course they all go to bed early usually 7:30-8pm during kinder. Now my kid is in primary she still goes to bed before 8:30.

Yes, up to Kowloon city and kowloon Tong, but no bus to Sai Kung/TKO in kinder.
From primary, also bus to TKO.

It may be easier for this year, in the past kids need separation for assessment but now it may be carried as zoom interview.
