Does anyone know that HKIS send rejection letter? Is their wait pool really a wait pool that there is a chance getting in? Appreciate your sharing!

There is definitely a waiting pool.  In fact, they have different categories of wait pools - debenture holders, foreign students, local students. If you ask, they are usually willing to share where you are in your category of wait pool.

Thanks for the sharing. Since they don’t operate wait list but wait pool, it’s difficult to tell how many people is in front, though know which specific pool that you are in.

Definitely a wait pool. Was told wait pool is larger than ever this year though.
Hkis won’t move people up from wait pool by number, it runs more like to have a similar profile replacement of someone who leaves the school. For example, if a Chinese girl leaves the school this year and they have a vacant, they’ll pick a Chinese girl with similar background from the wait pool to take that spot, so that the school can maintain similar stats of their student body.

A bigger wait pool is due to the increased number of applicants who came back to Hk because of the pandemic?

May I ask what kind of task the kid need to do in the interview? I had applied R2 for my kid as well but for some reason we withdrew. I would still love to know what hkis is looking for in a R2-to-be kid. TIA
