Arrangement of F.1 Discretionary Places Interview (2020-2021)

In view of the latest situation in regard to the novel coronavirus epidemic, the Education Bureau announced on 25 Feb 2020 that all schools will resume class on 20 Apr 2020 (Mon) at the earliest.
Due to the deferral of class resumption, the F.1 Discretionary Places interview will be cancelled. We will invite suitable candidates for an online meeting instead. The purpose of the online meeting is to allow us to review the candidate’s application by way of direct interaction with him. This will also
give the candidate the opportunity to ask us any questions he has about our approach to education and to give him an opportunity to confirm that Wah Yan is the right choice for him. We will not do an assessment on the candidate’s academic performance, but will instead look at his interactions, overall presentations, and oral English. Our main concern during the meeting will be to ascertain whether or not the candidate will benefit from Wah Yan education, be able to reach his full potential with us and, equally important, that he will be happy here.

With the change to an online meeting, we plan to adjust the rating of the assessment accordingly. The adjustments of the rating of the assessment are shown in the table below.

Interview performance (50%)

New F.1 Admission Assessment

Position in Discretionary Places Rank Order List (35%)

Online Meeting (30%)

According to the Education Bureau, parents of successful applicants will receive notification from School by phone and letter on 7 Apr 2020 (Tue).

The results of Discretionary Places and Central Allocation will be released at the same time on 7 Jul 2020 (Tue).
