好頭痕，出年移民英國，而家幫緊啲仔女睇學校。大女升year 7, ...

Even half an hour is too long for travel. I suggest you focus on London schools

My experience is different. My daughter just got an offer from an independent prep school in a town one hour from London. The schools I contacted so far are mostly accommodating in terms of assessment process as long as they have places.

Actually you can also enroll by yourself. There was one school which I applied for Day place by myself (school within top 50 in boarding school league).

I submitted application online, make registration fee via bank, communicated with school via email, zoom interview, conduct remote entrance exam (teacher invigilating students over zoom ~ initially they asked us to sit for exam at British council, but then uk lockdown, hence zoom).Daughter got accepted & was given scholarship (scholarship interview by 4 different panels, all via zoom).

Hence, it is completely viable to apply directly by ourselves.Schools very accommodating, eg, they knew we are from hk, hence always gave us earliest time slot so that we will start exam or interview in evening.

I applied day student in Boarding school via AA or you can apply day school by yourself. The key point for day school application is that the most of schools cannot offer T4 visa.

Not all of the schools offer commission to agents for applying day school that's why some agents would charge you for application! beware of what they cover
I have been to another agent - they have a list of day school that wont charge parents. but they will charge if you apply schools that are not on the list. I think it is a fair move to tell parents which they can assist, and which cannot.

My sister applied day places in Leighton Park and Reddam House through them - didn't charge her fee
