It is true. UK system is more focused on the subject you apply. US colleges counts everything, with different weighting, because most of the students change their major throughout their 4 years of study. They are looking for a more all round students.

Bilingual diploma is just a name and a result of subject choice. The admission office looks into the subject choice, not the name itself. That's what I mean the difference.

IB system is well known by most universities.

I don't agree. GPA (which is IB score in this case) and SAT/ACT are equally important. AP is important only if you are in US school syllabus, which considered as part of the GPA.

根據你 post 嘅資料，被取錄非聯招讀IB嘅本地生應該有大約538人。但網上話，本地生應該係指持有香港身分證嘅人，即係包括喺香港及外地讀IB嘅香港人。我搵唔到總共有幾多這類人申請。

其實我識嘅人之中，讀IB而又申請喺香港讀大學嘅學生，大多數都係想讀醫。以下嘅資料可能對佢地更relevant。

我所知hku medi 面試後唔一定出offer, 去年認識的孩子出了成績後立刻hku电話，肯去見面就收，去年43 or 44都入到 hku, 今年CO45有D奇，以往有咁出offer嗎?

我聽番上年係44/45，仲要收好少

始終聽番黎，我都唔擔保我收嘅料一定啱

不過HKU medic比CU，收得少IB或唔多「射」IB，呢樣人人都知，因為都幾明顯

入到之後，再讀上去，有教授話IB出來的明顯把口好talk得，presentable 轉数快。不過講書料，就一定係DSE出來果班叻啲同穩陣啲。我有朋友係CU做教授，佢係咁講。

DSE and IB各有好處吧。

可能hku medi 上限了non jupas在25%, 慢慢選，你急佢唔急。我認識ib孩子有2個去港大医(之前無收到offer, 但之後有電話), 另兩個去中大 (conditional offer 都是43), 兩大各有捧場客

其實入到兩間求其一間都好好

兩間出來咪又係醫生一個

一個醫生叻唔叻同自身修養/能力關係大過HKU定CU

反正，講得難聽點，內外全科醫學士就係「內外全科自學士」或「內外全科自修士」

做義工時認識唔止幾個醫科生，聽佢地呻到樹葉都落了

不過廢事好似個create conflict 嘅阿八連呢様都問埋，所以忍住冇再問

如果只係比較 IB vs A-level, 其實只要 Google下 “IB vs a level”, 就有好多報告。In general, 所有結論 (包括 Cambridge 自己做), 都是大約咁講。
“Analysis by the Higher Education Statistics Agency found that IB students were more likely to go to a top 20 ranked university than their A-level peers, more likely to get a first class degree.”
