Accepted equivalent qualification(s) for Hong Kong
Award of one of the following:
HKDSE: Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) with level 5 in English Language and Mathematics (compulsory unit), and level 3 in Chinese and Liberal Studies. Level 5* will be required in one elective subject, and 5 in 2 further elective subjects. Applicants for degree programmes where mathematics is required, a level 5* will be required for the compulsory Mathematics element and a minimum of level 5 for the extended algebra and calculus extended element (the calculus and statistics extended component will not be acceptable for these subjects). For subjects that require an A* at GCE A-level Mathematics, level 5* will be required in the extended component. For these programmes only two further elective subjects will be required.

For all Single and Joint Honours degrees involving Economics, including Philosophy, Politics and Economics, we require you to obtain a Grade A at A level Mathematics or its equivalent. For students taking the IB we are happy to accept either Higher Level grade 6 or Standard Level grade 7 in Mathematics
Applicants are encouraged to avoid studying both Economics and Business Studies A2 levels
We do not accept Advanced Higher Statistics as a substitute for AH Mathematics. If you are taking both of these subjects at this level then a further Advanced Higher is necessary
If you are studying for the IB Diploma please note that we do not accept Mathematical Studies at standard level instead of standard level Mathematics
咁就要睇讀邊間大學或邊一派經濟啦。
我當年 AS 修 Mathematics and Statistics, 入中大經濟系後第一年要讀兩個學期數學,有 linear algebra (matrix, vector) 同 differential equations. 到讀 Intermediate microeconomics, macroeconomics 等必修理論時發現完全不知所云,僅僅合格,結果轉系。 同意樓上, stat 反而比較淺,經濟系提供的訓練已足夠,只係 linear regression, time series 嗰啲難少少 (但個人認為係因為己 algebra 唔好). 但讀港大同科大的同學就無咁多數。
