Actually that brings me to a question, and perhaps not the best one to be posted on the primary school website - how does YMCACC choose students between taking DSE vs IGESE + GCE AL?

For example,  one of my children cannot really read Chinese so I don't know if that will be a factor.

YHKCC principal will explain to parent in the secondary school talk.

Hope there is a chance to meet with the principal in the YMCACC talk later... perhaps after (primary) school starts?

Sure you will have the chance to meet him since he is also the deputy supervisor of the primary school.

教署規定係要有51%學生考DSE,所以係去到中四揀科時首49-%成績好先可以讀IGCSE,因為IGCSE 需要writing skill 係好好先得
唔識中文嘅學生都可以考DSE,只不過唔考中文！

Thanks that's clear.
But just wonder if IGESE really requires more writing than DSE - this isn't IB where you need to write thesis. I guess I can ask clarify a bit more with the supervisor if I have a chance to meet him.

IGCSE for all students at S3 to S4.
DSE /GCE A Level for upper forms.  
I think GCE exams are similar to DSE exams  That's why we choose YHKCC.

I think the students need to decide which stream to take at F3.

But here is the application form for Form 4. Look like the students need to pick the stream before going to form 4.

Yes,you need to choose which stream after S3, but there are some subjects u can take IGCSE exam no matter you are DSE stream or GCE stream.
IGCSE exam is for S3 & S4 students.
DSE & GCE AL exam is for S6 students.

Just the same as ESF, their students take IGCSE at year 10/11, then IB later.

I just wonder that YHKCC is a direct subsidy school, does it need to have a certain number of students taking DSE? If that is the case, the student cannot choose DSE or GCE of their own free will....

Yes, at least 51% of the students must take DSE.

51% DSE
49% GCE
Priority according to students academic result and wishing to further education.

Not every students take GCE, since the places for non jupus is limited.

DSE result is also very common for apply universities of USA, UK, Canada and Australia.
