in Canada, Citizen and PR no need to pay international fee, except in BC (i think at least one year to be considered as Resident). There are many good public schools even in Toronto but you have to know.  you should not consider to send your children to the Chinese area.

the school in your area will request your property tax information to ensure you have paid the money to the school board. the exception is IB/AP programs which are competitive so students may come from other area

you can open a student bank account for your child in any local bank like CIBC/RBC/BMO and others. can send money using banks in HK (ie.e BOCHK) via internet and only costing HKD65 each time. simple and no need to visit counter costing you HKD200 each time (????)

The Guardian can be anyone and no need to live in the same house. anyone bel ...

it can be anyone but has to be approved by the school Board. it can disapprove it

not necessarily. if the children's parents are non residents, school board can ask for international students fees.

for those who newly immigrated to Canada, or returning residents, they haven't filed and paid any tax yet, they will need to provide property rental agreement or other proof to show their  residence in Canada.

school board really don't care as long as someone sign-up as the Guardian. the worst is Toronto District School Board, and there was a news in local that a mainlander is charging high fee for more than eight (?) students and not doing his jobs like meeting the principal on request

i think no school board in GTA requiring only relative can be the Guardian (correct me if I am wrong). Peel/Halton/ Toronto I know no need.

in don't think so now. I read thru a document from ontario education bureau. kids with non residents parents would be considered non residents, ie intl students

Hi All,

Any college to recommend or good ones in Toronto/Montreal you know? I'm planning to send my boy to the college after DSE.

Sorry can't find too much info on colleges but I think it's good as a stepstone for mine to see whether suit him or not.

The cheapest way is using something like HSBC Global Transfer. (I think some other banks like BEA has something similar, not sure.)

Parent open HSBC account in Hong Kong (if not already have one), and activate Global Transfer (need to have Premier or Advance banking account) and set up HSBC Canada account (ie a local HSBC account in Canada) in Hong Kong.

Child open any Canada local bank account, say CIBC, TD, Scotia, HSBC Canada etc.

First, parent use Global Banking to transfer money from HSBC HK to HSBC Canada. No fees for Premier and some fees for Advance. The transfer is instant.

Then, use "Interac etransfer" to transfer money from parent's HSBC Canada account to child's account in canada. Interac is bank to bank transfer by using email address.  You need to enquire whether there is a daily transfer limit of Interac.

Banks there are not totally free to use unlimitedly. Using online banking to transfer from parent's account to child's account might not be free. But Interac is always free.

I heard that Scotia Bank has the best package (eg has the most number of free ATM withdrawals or transfers etc every month). TD has lots of branches in the US if that is what you would prefer. Tangerine (subsidiary of Scotia Bank) is a very popular branchless "direct bank", and has a network around the world with banks, so you can withdraw money in other countries with zero or very low fees.

• 我同老公都係大學畢業，但唔係咩專業人士（普通文職），亦唔夠錢攪投資移民。聽講有個計劃係讀一兩年書然後搵工做就可以全家移民？？如果咁post grad 既course/ diploma 又點搵?
