英文中學

所謂英文中學, 定議是否指教統局核決以英語教學之學校為英中, 那麼很多直資中學亦都是用英文教學, 它們又是不是英中呢?
如李國寶中學, 又想問迦密中學(九龍城區) 是否屬英中呢?
有冇綱址可以清楚睇晒全港屬英中資料, 希望有經驗家長提供資料, 急!謝謝!

除中文科外,以英文授課的,都叫英文中學,可以到呢個網址睇睇佢地開辦既科目以乜語言授課,就知佢係中文中學定英文中學

The problem is that some (quite many ?) of the so-called EMI schools encourage students to attempt certain  subjects in Chinese in CE (e.g. liberal studies, bible, history) and AL in order to push up the passing percentage. This is very bad because these EMI schools take the advantage and the EMB is double-standard in this matter.

Yes, quite a lot of so-called EMI schools in fact only teach 50% of subjects in English, and for subjects in English, they use English text books but may teach in Cantonese (?).  So they are not really EMI schools, but are more bilingual schools.

我都不太明白, 即是教統局認可的和直資中學(自行教授英語)係兩回事嗎?

Now there are not much restrictions on EMI schools from EMB and DSS, these schools can teach different no. of subjects in English as they like.  In future (by 2008 or after), EMB will set a standard for being EMI schools - need to accept at least 85% students who pass the required standard in Eng, Chinese and Maths.  The % of students maybe adjusted after consultation which has just ended on July 2.
